I have modded my own xbox with the splinter cell method and replaced the hdd with a 40gig , and now my friend wants me to mod his but I wanted to be sure that his xbox would read burned games and so I tried connecting my old xbox hdd to his xbox but it gave me the "call support" error. I thought that maybe something had happened to the hdd so I put it back on my xbox and it worked and everything. So then I connected my 40 gig to his xbox and it gave me the same error. Why is this happening? Is there a chance that if I soft mod his xbox it wont even load anything? Help is appreciated. Thanks.

the harddrive is married to the motherboard via the EEPROM

your drive isnt going to work in his without his EEPROM.bin used for locking the drive.

it's supposed to give that error.

why bother putting in a dvd re-writer the xbox can burn disc's anyways. As for the 40 or 50Gb Hd, there aint much point to that either, eventually your going to have to burn the games and at roughly 4gb each you'll only end up with about 10 to 12 game on your HD.
