hey every1, i know how to FTP my xbox and mod the new maps, but how do I find the old maps (like lockout, ascesnion, etc.) and mod those? Any help would be appreciated!
Obviously you don't know that those maps are located on the halo 2 disc and not on your harddrive. there's no way to rewrite anything on the disc, which in turn means, you can't apply .ppf patches onto those maps.
ok, obviously, i didnt make myself clear. i know they are on the disk. but my question still stands; is there anyway at all to mod the old maps? can you like copy the maps from the disk to ur HD and then mod them? i mean, i don't know, i'm just lookin for some help
ok heres wat you do If you want ot mod any of the levels on the Halo 2 disc you will need to put the entire game on your hard drive. 1. Boot your xbox up with Halo 2 in the disc tray. As soon as it truns on open th disc tray. When Microsoft comes up after the big Xbox preview close the disc tray. This allows you to look and explore the contents of the Halo 2 disc. 2. Connect with CoreFTP to your xbox. Go to the new D drive. This is your Halo 2 disc. Transfer the D drive to your computer. It is like three GigaBytes. Do Not try to edit anything on the disc. Do not tranfer anything to the disc and make sure not to delete anything on the disc. 3. Open D once it is all on your computer. Go to the maps section and delete all the campaign maps. These are not needed and will free up like 2 gigs. Just make sure you don't delete any of the mulitplayer maps. Also delete single_player_shared.map Do not delete mainmenu.map or shared.map 4. Now rename D to Halo 2. Make a new folder on the E drive of your xbox. Name it "Games" Transfer Halo 2 to this folder. 5. Restart your xbox. Go to Games on your dashboard and find Halo 2. Click it. If there is no Halo 2 in the games section- go to E then games then Halo 2. Click on default.xbe. This will start Halo 2 6. Congrats!! You can now mod any level that is normally on the disc. When sending a modded map from your computer to your xbox put it in the maps folder in Halo 2. (E/games/halo 2/maps) Just overwrite the map that that you are replacing. -I do not take any credit in making this tutorial-
