since you have already signed up to xbox live the stock hd is the only one you can use...if you sign on with a upgraded hd you will get banned...you can still mod your xbox, just switch out the hd's when you want to play xbox live.

If you canceled your account and created a new one on the other hard drive would you still be banned?

yes you would still get banned...xbox live remembers the xbox(eeprom)and the hd, not the account...so when you get banned, they don't ban your account, they ban the xbox and hd...you can still use your account you just can't use the xbox that was banned.

crompton, that is something that most people know how to do already, I believe you are talking about softmodding your system. Here is the definition of softmodding...

===Softmodding is a technique that will allow you to play backup games, upgrade your hard drive, and load Xbox based programs without the use of a modchip===
