Im troubleshooting a friends computer.when i plug the power cord in the back the cooling fan turns on and the cpu fan turns on.the cd busy light is on and the green light and yellow light stay on from the front panel, i have tried to use the power button in the front no response and the restart button from the front no response.so all i am left is a black monitor screen.

    any help thanks in advance,

ok i checked all capacitors they are flat shaped,i installed a different psu,a stick of ram.then disconnected all drives except hard drive.when i plugged it in all was good nothing turned on.so i pushed the power button and it turned on it went to a screen and this is what it said.

rpl-rom-ffc: and then it was counting then the next screen it said no boot record found insert floppy in drive a and hit any key when ready. so i rebooted the system and hit the delete key to go into the bios and it won't,a screen comes up with the computer description.

    thanks

update: I cleared the cmos and hooked all cables and put original ram back in,except the old power supply and whola it booted up.so i am confident enough to say my problem was the power suply.

    thanks for the help,
    Donrenee
