Can't get my monitor to get more than 16 colors. For various reasons, upgraded to Win 2000. Display shows up as "(default monitor)on VGA" in the settings tab. Downloaded the drivers for the monitor, Dell e770s, but the "properties" tab in the monitor settings won't light up for me to get to the driver update tab. I could go back to Win 98 but would rather try to fix this. Any ideas? (Also tried to reinstall the monitor as new hardware to no avail.)

After a fresh installation of an OS, make sure the next thing you install are the motherboard drivers. This may include an AGP driver, may not.

Then, DirectX 9.0c, then your video card drivers. Your options should appear after that.

Remember that if your VGA card its not onboard then the driver will not be in the motherboard cd.
