my friends monitor broke so he gave it to me
and i would really like to fix it
it is a lcd dell monitor

    and as the title describes
it turns on, then the picture turns off a second later
but the power light stays green

i am guessing this is a backlight issue?
can anyone confirm if that is most likely the case?
if so..how would i go about replacing that?

the only thing is that when i hold a light source up to the
screen, i can't seem to see a faint picture at all

Could be a number of things. Most likely it's a control board issue, which I wouldn't really know where to find a replacement for other than Dell themselves.

    thank you

i am trying to find a replacement part
but it is very difficult =\ even on the dell site

is there any way it could be a power inverter problem?

If it was, the power LED would probably turn off as well when the screen went black. I won't discount it, but I think the monitor itself being at fault is more likely.
