"Chapters" is a decidedly DVD concept and one that doesn't exist in the dpg format players I don't believe. You can simply fast forward using the touch screen- touch on the bottom bar to where you want to go. No, there is no counter. Yes, you just have to remember you were about 2/3 of the way across the bar when you stopped last and then hunt. No, it isn't terribly wonderful. Edit: I'd love to be proved wrong about the above if anybody knows any different.
