I'm trying to back up Capote, and having problems (as a dozen others have...I've read the other threads, but I'm still a bit lost). I tried using DVDFabDecrypter (latest version), and it crashed after about 20 seconds. My first question, then, is why didn't this work for me when it seemed to solve the problem for everyone else? Next, I downloaded the trial version of AnyDVD, got it up and running, and it appears that DVD Shrink can now see the Capote files just fine. My second question is, if I just press "backup!" in DVD Shrink (after selecting the main movie file, taking out the subtitles that I don't want, etc.), with AnyDVD running in the background, will I end up with a good copy of Capote? Or do I have to filter the files through something like VOB Blanker in order to clean out the protections on new DVDs like this one? (Awhile ago I followed someone's advice in this forum and ran Chronicles of Narnia through DVDFabDecrypter, then VOB Blanker, then DVD Shrink...and the same question occurred to me: can I just skip over the VOB Blanker step?) Thanks in advance for any suggestions...and sorry if it gets on anyone's nerves to ask another Capote questions again...
Just click backup and you are good to go. Shrink will analyze and encode the files that you have selected and open your burning program upon completion of its process. Cheers.
If you're using the newest AnyDVD you should get a good copy with just DVD Shrink. I've never had to use VOB Blanker for anything. Sometimes I use the Start-End frame feature to clip the dark frames at the very beginning up to the movie's first filled frame. That's the area most likely to cause problems due to navigation errors.
