Trying to burn a data DVD. Using Nero Version 7. I still haven't been able to get any DVD to burn. This was my previous problem, as yet unsolved. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_jump.cfm/285165/1624669-522483 I've tried using Taiyo Yuden DVD with the above problem, no luck. My current problem is below. This is a fresh Win XP install and Nero version 7. Any ideas? This is some of the worst media money can buy, use only quality media from Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden or Sony, Fuji, Maxell(made in Japan). You've changed media as suggested by gluey in the other thread but unfortunately you took a step backwards instead of a step forward. You are attempting to burn too fast, slow down your burn speed to not more than 4X, especially with those discs...you may get a successful backup at 2.4X. Also if you are writing from one of these drives DMA should be on, that could also result in a failed burn.
@catter I use Nero 7 premium edition and have no issues with it, but everyones system will be different.
OOPS, more questions. How can I turn on check supported media? Sounds dumb, but how to slow the burn speed? I couldn't find a setting that would stay at a certain speed. Should I use NERO's ASPI instead of XP's SPTI, and if so, how to force the change, and keep it that way? How can I turn on DMA on a Promise non-RAID, (just IDE) card? Couldn't find any info on Promise's web site. Thanks for the advice so far.
Shoot. Mod, can you put this reply above my oops reply? The TY media I tried was a -R. I've since done a lot of research, and discovered I have 2 problems. Number 1, name brand doesn't mean diddly when it comes to disc quality. I tried HP, which is the CMC AE1 junk. Number 2 is that I've found my brand and model of drive isn't very good with -R discs. I've ordered some Taiyo Yuden +R discs. I'll probably change out my drive for a better one. Any recommendations?
