hi i am pretty new to computers and i am planning to add more ram, i have 256 at the mo but want to double that. ive looked on ebay and it look fairly cheap, i just dont no what 1 i should be buying! i have a p4 titan series motherboard, and i think i need sdram dimm or something. i noticed on ebay that they all say pc100 or pc133, but ithink mine is pc166, does any of this make a differance or what? please help!
Hello there, in geneal you should add the same speed memory that is already in your system. Heres a list of memory types and there speeds. SDR PC100 0.8 GB/sec SDR PC133 1.0 GB/sec DDR PC1600 1.0 GB/sec DDR PC2100 2.1 GB/sec DDR PC2700 2.7 GB/sec DDR PC3200 3.2 GB/sec DDR PC4000 4.0GB/sec If your unsure theres a nice little tool on crucials site, just enter your motherboard type (manufacturer and model) and it will give you the memory types suited to you. http://www.crucial.com/ I noticed you said you want our double your memory which would take your total memory to 512MB, just like to point out you can get a 512MB stick or even 1GB stick of memory for not a huge amount more money than youl pay for a 256MB stick. Might be worth bearing in mind if your upgrading anyway. Haim
