I used to have a 2.4mhz processor. One day my computer refused to boot, but was fixed by lowering the bus speed. Now my computer views it as a 1.6mhz in the device manager. In the BIOS, I changed the bus speed from 133 to 166 and it would view it as 1.98mhz. If I change it to a higher bus speed, my computer will not boot. I tried a different processor (3.2mhz) and I still have the same problem. Is this an unrepairable motherboard problem or does anyone have any idea how I might fix this? Any ideas at all? It's a gigabyte 8sg800 motherboard.
how much voltage are you giving the CPU, and the RAM is also affected by the FSB speed, what type of RAM is it?
If you board is less than three years old RMA it and see what happens. Try talking to the Gigabyte support guys, sometimes they even manage to know things about their products(well once in a blue moon).
