Hey, my brother is having trouble with his desktop speakers. Actually, since the last 2 pcs he's changed, he's always had this, except that he connects his boombox via USB and that really boosts up the sound. But I've been thinking lately, we've had offboard computers and they don't require the speakers to be powerfed since the soundcard that is powered offers enough power to make the speakers loud. But with the offboards we haven't been having the same luck. I've always thought that was unfixable, but I've been thinking maybe there's a connector on the motherboard, which you could plug in the PSU to boost the onboard sound. Am I right? Or do I really have to just get him some externally powered speakers? Thanks Ed
Mother: Asus P4SP-MX Onboard Soundcard the speakers are some PolkAudio speakers that came with an HP Pavillion once (where they worked perfectly straight off the motherboard without any external power)... they seem like OEM, but I can't tell the original manufacturer, although I don't really know a manuf. called PolkAudio
