I was wondering if anyone would recommend the Motorola ROKR phone. because I was thinking about buying an iPod but then I saw this phone. I also need a new cell phone so this acts a 2in1 for me.It even takes pictures and has interenet while you listen to your music. The only bad thing I see is that it only hold 100 songs verus the 1000 the iPod Nano I was gunna get holds, but It does only cost $100 as opposed to $300 for the iPod also. It seems perfect in every other way. But if it isnt worth it I think I will just stick to the regualar iPod Nano

EDIT: I read somewheres that made me think that somehow you may have to upgarde your phone in order for it to hold 100 songs. I'm not saying this is true so can Anyone help me out

the rokr has a memory card known as *Transflash* and it is upgradable to 512mb(not sure if it would work with 1gb since there is 1gb avaliable now). i currently own a 256mb(hold about 50 songs). it is located in side the phone next to the sim card. almost half the size of the sim card.

    =) happy Rokr!

I decided to go with the Motorola E815 phone instead of the ROKR because it was almost the same but it was a flip phone version. I don't think I have made the wrong choice so far but does anyone else have something to say?

PS Can you put MP3's as ringtones one the ROKR

the ROKR is not worth the hassle for the sake of an iPod interface; the phone is not-that-great, and the camera is extremely poor. Also, the tracks take ages to sync. You are better off with a Sony Ericsson w800i, as you can drag and drop the songs over quicker, and it's a better all round phone.

    What exactly does this mean?,
Now after hearing this I am glad I went with the Motorola E815 plus I like the flip phones alot better
How many songs can that phone you recommended hold? The tF card I have only lets me hold like 28 songs but this is ok for me because the mp3 isnt the only reason I bought the phone, One other thing is that the playlists on the E815 arent so great but then again I dont see the need to make any.

well because of the way it is built up, you can't just 'drag & drop' you songs onto the ROKR, so to speak. You have to import them to iTunes, and then update your ROKR to put songs on. It's a great feature if you are running an iPod through this method, because they transfer at a rate of about a song per second. Unfortunately though, to put 100 songs on a ROKR, you are looking at at least 20 minutes, possibly longer.

It can hold the same amount of songs (but you can get a larger memory card for more storage, I believe), but you can transfer them over in 30 seconds, plus it is a very advanced phone - 2megapix camera being one of the main features.

On my Rokr e1.(black) i coudl play mp3 as DRAG and Drop, but the itune function would be empty and you would have to play it by opening Multimedia just like how you would view your ringtone etc.... also, you could just take the Transflash(memory storage) and put it into the SanDisk adapter and transfer the songs, etc.. Took me less then 10 min for 50.mp3 songs into my 256mb-Transflash.

Rokr could also record/play videos and take pictures up to 2megapix and it also come with a short rang flash, but isnt that great. i use it for Flashlight. =)

anyone know any good hack for the rokr?

I have Rokr Too and i am Extremly Pleased with that phone. The Other thing that i didnt saw anything noticed that when u hook up the phone to the pc, you can actually see that phone' input in the My computer,as drive E or F. and thats where u can download ringtones to your phone,Upload Pictures or Video from the phone to the pc and also E-mail them to your friend or family.I have 512 mb Memory. and there is another software out there, to Compress mp3's ,so save some space or put more songs in your Transflash.i have just tried to fill the momery after compressing all the mp3's and it actually hold 125 songs. as the software for the mp3 compress has an extra feature that you can compress it even more, but the more u compress, the Quality would be poor.i only compress upto 50kb/s. and sure u can compress it even more. Anyways i hope this Information may help.

iiialpha - I know. But what's the point in paying over-the-odds for an iTunes phone if you aren't even going to use the iTunes function?

I got the rokr, and i'm also loving it. The camera is decent enough for a cellphone and the mp3 player is more than adequate for the gym. Yeah, the usb 1.1 sucks, and the 100 song cap is stupid, but one thing nobody's mentioned is the price. I got this phone for $50 w/ no activation fee on a 2 yr term, and it came with the usb cable, headphones/headset, 512mb tf card and an sd adapter. For gsm where I live, there was no other phone that could touch this one (actually the v635i? - flip w/ 1.3mp camera - had the better camera but was more pricey and only had a 64k colour screen). Sure I'd love to have the w800i, but not for 10x the price. For that money i'd rather just go out and buy a good mp3 player and a good digital camera.

don't the ringtones have to be in the audio folder for that? I don't think you can use itunes mp3s as ringtones, but if someone knows how, let me know too.

    I was reading about the Rokr E1 on this site;
    http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_rokr_e1-reviews-1273.php
And I found something interesting. Not sure if anyone knows this already though.

This is what a user wrote so I can confirm if it works or not but it is worth a try for anyone with this phone.
