Hi I was reading a way you can activate the phone to allow you to download java games off your pc via data cable onto the phone. Firstly, there isnt a feature on my phone which allows the turning on of downloading Java apps. Secondly, I have the BVRP Mobile Phone Tools for Motorola's and when i try and copy the Java files onto the phone it says something like 'Error - Denied by Phone, unrecognized content' or something. Is there a program or a way or something i can do (i have Windows XP) to put java games on my mobile?
MPT is mainly for copying static file formats like .jpg for images and .mid or .mp3 for tones, it won't copy Java files. This one puzzled me at first too, I also have a V220 and was faced with the same thing. What you need is an app called Midway 2.8 to transfer, but if Java Apps Loader isn't set up, you'll need another one called Motorola PST (I use v7.1.1 & have had no problems). Some people advise you use another app called PK-something, but MPT, PST & Midway are the only apps I've ever used to transfer and I'm getting along fine. So you connect your phone via USB & run PST. Make sure you know what serial port your phone is connected through (you can check by right-clicking My Computer>Properties>Hardware tab>Device Manager>Find Modems in the list of devices>Expand the category by clicking the + sign>Right-click the one showing Motorola or USB modem>Properties>Advanced tab) Then click File>New and it will present you with a big list. Find KJava file & click Ok. From here you should get a big menu with the title "Untitled KJava file 1". Click the Phone option. Click Read. It will attempt a connection. If it says Not connected, unplug the USB, plug it back in & go through the step again. It should eventually come up to a step where it says it is "Suspending Phone" & show a status bar moving from 0-100%. It will prompt you when it's completed. Now here's where I screwed up at first. You'll see at the bottom of the window where it says it's ok to disconnect the phone. It's not! LOL...you need to enable the KJava first. Close the window that shows the 100% completed & underneath is that big Untitled KJava window we got at the beginning, except now on the right you'll see an Enable/Disable Java App Loader Menu bar. Click it. You'll get another status bar screen & when it finishes, the menu will be enabled. Now here's where you need Midway. If loading the Java Menu froze your phone, just turn it off then on like normal. Disconnect your USB. Go into your phone options to Java Settings, and you should see Java App Loader at the top now. Select it & you'll be prompted to insert cable. When you do you'll see the Link Enabled msg on your phone. Open Midway. Click File>Open JAD. Point Midway at the .JAD file for the app or game you wish to install. You'll see the info populate into the Midway screen. Pick File>Send Jad. When you do, your phone should light up. Look for what button on your phone is to "download" and select it. You'll see a status meter as the app installs. Depending on the app, it may ask if you want to run it when it completes. You will only have to repeat the last 2 steps (connecting the cable to establish the Java Link & loading the JAD file through Midway) for doing this in future. The loading & executing of the Java Apps Loader is a one-time thing. Hope this helped....
