Ok, I'm new to this forum and Motorola phones, so all the help you can give me is appreciated. There are just a few things that are ticking me off about this phone, so please reply to whichever of the following you have knowledge of:

    1) Phone unlocking - any suggestions on how to get this phone unlocked, it is through T-Mobile?

    2) Port 80 Block - I've seen a lot of info on the net about changing Web sessions to remove this block, but have not been able to get my phone to connect to the PC for the seem editing. Any suggestions here would be great! I can get the Motorola USB Modem to show up, but then it goes into installing the 2nd driver (who knows which one comes second), finishes, but never connects to P2KMan or any other programs I have tried. I just downloaded MPT 3.1.23 or something like that, so when I get home I will give that a shot.

    3) Signal strength - Does anyone have a reference to go buy to compare this phone to others on the T-Mobile network? I have no signal at home with my $300 phone, but my friend has great reception on his Nokia 6010. I'm wondering if my phone is defective in some way or if the reception is just not that great on this model.

Thank you all in advance for helping (if you made it through this post, I can be a bit wordy sometimes).

Ok, dont know about #1 or 2 but i can talk about #3. The signal ( i have tmobile also) is excellent. I have friends on my campus that have no signal inside the dorms at all, i have normally 3 bars. Outside and normally I have full bars. Also, battery charge is amazing. If i dont use, it can last 6 days. Normally, with use it lasts 4 days.

Thanks for the response! I may have to check into taking my phone back if they'll let me know that I made some minor changes ...

I have corrected problem #2. I was able to get this fixed quite easily once I gave up on seem edits and everything else. All I really needed is one great little program I found. Once I get home and have a chance, I'll post more details for others that have this problem (I don't remember the name of the program right now). It really isn't necessary to go through all of the seem editing and getting p2kman to work (although I found out after I finally got the little sucker connected). The program I used also works great for installing JAVA programs from a desktop.

As far as volume, I have been very happy with this phone. I have never used the earbud, but the speakerphone is excellent as is the handset volume. Now I'll have to check out the earbud just to see.

<B>To connect to a P2K or Midlet manager software, I HIGHLY recommend finding a copy of PST 6.7 or later. Once you have that installed, and running, the other programs connect quite easily.</b> I battled with connecting to my phone for days without it. I had installed the MPT and that worked great, but none of my other programs would work and installing drivers manually for that thing just isn't an option when you have no idea which driver it is trying to install and it refuses to pick one automatically. Once I installed PST, everything works great. Now when I want to use another program, I open PST first, let it establish a connection, and then I open whatever program I want to work in.

The only problem I have had with connecting now is that I have not been able to view the system folder to download files from the phone using P2KMan or any other P2K software. I eventually didn't need to do this at all since I found an easier program for modifying menus (enabling web sessions was my main goal so that I can use Opera Mini and Google Local on my T-Mobile phone). The program I used for this also works for installing JAVA midlets from a desktop. I apologize that I have not yet had a chance to list all of the programs I was able to connect to the phone, I have to be at home to get the links, so I will still do that.

If anyone knows much about P2Kman, my problem is that it displays the folder listing on the left, including the system folder, but when I click on a folder no files appear on the right. Any ideas on how to fix that? I have connected with P2K Tools, P2K Man, P2K Commander, and a few other less known applications, so I know the drivers are right.
