mouse cursor moves by itself

i have a dell laptop, and well my problem is, my mouse cursor moves slowly to the top left corner, or top right corner, its different everyday, ive heard stories from updating the video adapter drive, to virus, to new mouse (but i have a touchpad) to mouse pad, to optical mouse (i DO have a USB dell optical mouse, that when i connect it, it does the same thing, hard to edit pictures with this problem, any real suggestions?

POST SCRIPT. i even went as far as to use HIJACKTHIS

 

my last wireless opticle mouse used to do this when the battery was starting to die.

have you try downloading the touchpad driver from dell
or from the cd that came with it

 

thats a good point, i ONLY downloaded the "synaptics touchpad" driver. and what i did was uninstalled it, and my touchpad works. hmmm i guess ill try that, o and the cd. i bought the latptop on ebay, so.....yea i only got the laptop. ill try it out gilbert06

i tried it, did not work, im chatting with a DELL representative, told me to run a diagnostics test, failed DST short test {code 1000-0146.} w.e that means, it

 

anything that fails a diagnosic test should be sent back to the manufacture for a fix or a replacement i hope you get your sorted
