Hi, I have just installed windows xp pro on a pc with athlon 1800+, 256mb ddr ram. The problem i have is that 2 weeks after setting it up and using it all of a sudden the mouse stopped responding. it stays frozen and the buttons dont work. i have found that if i uninstall the mouse driver on the next boot up the mouse is working except for the scroll, but xp then automatically re-installs the mouse driver and the next time i start up the mouse will not work again. anybody know how this problem can be resolved? im using a microsoft intellimouse 1.2. i tried searching for drivers but had no luck. thanks for any replies.
Here yeah go after ten minutes on google. http://www.mdgx.com/drv.htm#MOU Also since these seeem to be usb mice ya might want to enable usb legacy mouse support in the bios. Hit delete at start up to get to the bios setup and go through the sceens till yeah find something for usb keyboard/mouse support
hi, thanks for your reply, you said these are for usb mice but the one i have has a ps2 connection on it. will these same drivers work?
try removing your mouse driver alltogether if it is available in add remove programs in your control panel or try system restore
the driver doesnt appear in the add remove programs menu but i have tried to uninstall it from the device manager but the problem with that is that the next time i start xp up it detects the mouse as new hard ware and automatically installs the driver for it, the one that causes it to stop working. i will try a system restore if i cnt solve this problem. thanks for the replies, much appreciated
Are yeah sure your not using a green adapter so ya can plug it in the ps2 port? And yes these drivers should work even if it aint usb.
the connection on the mouse is a green ps2 plug but its not a usb and then in to a green converter adapter thing if thats what you mean. il try the drivers, thanks
I tried the drivers and uninstalling it and then eventually reinstalled windows and the same thing happened. As soon as the clean install of win xp pro had completed the mouse was not working again. any ideas anyone? do you think if i use a usb mouse it would work? thanks for any replies
