mouse moves by itself and opens and closes programs

hey guys, here recently my mouse has been acting crazy. I'll be moving it around and suddenly it'll jump all over the screen opening and closing programs. if i take my hand off of it and dont try to fight it, it'll stop. i have avg and it scans every day and hasn't found anything. my computer perfomance sucks though, it runs slow, programs freeze, i can't click on things sometimes so now im wondering if i have some kind of virus. any ideas? i hate to take it to a shop if it's something i can fix.

Check or have someone check your memory sticks. I had the same thing happen when one of my memory sticks wasn’t seated properly.
Try another mouse and reinstall the mouse driver..

If all fails, Call GhostBusters……..

I don't believe this is a virus. I've had this on several computers. Does the cursor seem to want to go to the top right, and will fight you for a few seconds before letting go? My suggestions are (if you haven't done so):
Look at your mousepad, if it has any kind of reflective surface, use a different one. Things with shiny/reflective surfaces do mess with your mouse.

Try the mouse on another PC

Try another mouse.
