does anyone know of a good program that can move files off a hard drive to a external hard drive, the program must be bootable

    original issue

my friends inspiron 2600 will boot up and crash at the windows loading screen, he no longer has the recovery disc provided by the OEM, safe mode crashes as well, a blue screen of death will flash quickly and then
disappear as the computer restarts any ideas, and programs that could solve this issue?

    http://store.payloadz.com/str-asp-i...sk_CD_DOWNLOAD_ISO__Software_-end-detail.html

At the above link he/she can get the original oem disk
with the drivers needed for a fresh install.

In the meantime , if possible you could try Booting the computer
into "safe-mode" by pressing the f8 key , after
    you turn the computer on,

If the safe mode is able to load, you can then use system restore,
to restore the OS to a earlier time, before the problems started
    happening.
Also you can run tests in the safe mode to see what if any drivers,
or programs are crashing the system.

    Good luck hope this helps.

if have more then 1 stick of ram try 1 at a time to see if still have problem or not. also use a pencil eraser on the gold contacts of the ram to remove oxidation as found that to work sometimes.

well safe mode as i said before is a no go, i already replaced the ram (very annoying with a laptop) and i found no success with that,

im going to do a fresh install but would like to move some data off the disc, is there a bootable cd that will allow me to move the files to an
    external hard drive??
