    I have tried several times to burn a movie. Each time it goes as far as creating menus and transcoding streams and then "freezes"...its only 1 movie and I have tried both mpg and avi from different sources.I am using Nero and pioneer dvr109 burner other movies no problems.

    Hi Gwendolyn
    I tried to backup star wars a new hope after four hours I gave up, I used scuba Pete’s guide for Decrypter and tried ANY DVD. cleaned the disc and still no luck. Various faults; cannot read disc, cyclic errors, disc is protected. I suspected a damaged disc.
    Off I went and got another DVD only to find the same thing
    I will eventually find a good copy of new hope.
    Don't give up it might be a damaged disc that you are trying to burn if you can get another DVD try it

    @gwendolin,

    First of all, you'll need to provide your computer specs and what movie you're trying to back up. Then copy your Nero's error/failed log and paste it here, so some of the members can help you to determine what needs to be done. Secondly, are you using good quality media to back up and what kind of blank dvd-/+r are you using? I hope it's not Memorex or any other unknown blank medias, or else you'll be seeing more coasters on the road.

    Sounds like you're trying to convert or burn an AVI file into dvd right? Perhaps, you may want to use Divx2Dvd. Actually, I don't do much of converting AVI to DVD, if I want to do a few of my movies in AVI files, then I'll just use NERO to burn as "data" and play it on my Philips dvd player. It's much less hassle and save you tons of times trying to convert it into dvd.

    Hopefully other members will be able to help you resolve your problem in due time.
