i am currently making a promo video and when i MAKE MOVIE, in order to fit it on a cd, i need to make it into a standard AVI but the quality is really bad. Does anyone know if i should be using a certain codec when making movie? or shoudl i just make it a DV AVI and then shrink it with a program?

How long is the video, and what kind of promo is it? Is it to be played on a PC? DVD player?

The video is just over 3 minutes and is a music promo that's to be put on a cd and played on a PC

for something like that I would encode it as a high bitrate MPEG1 video. You (or the person with the PC) won't need to load any special codecs. You can bump up the bitrate if it's only 3 minutes long.
