Hi, I'm looking for several things to help organize my movie collection. I make copies of all my movies and right now they're all just stuffed into several large cases and I was hoping to get it a little more organized. What I want to do is get actual cases for all of them then be able to print a simple sheet to put on each one with title on front and on spine of case, and a short description of movie and perhaps a barcode on the back. Then I want to create a database of the collection.

What I'm looking for primarily is perhaps any software that maybe does it all, or at least a good way someone may know to print the sheet (does anyone have a format saved where maybe everything lines up?) Also, does anyone know where to buy bulk cases for cheap? I'm not looking for anything fancy, but just basic cases that have the plastic cover on them (for sheet to go in) and are regular cases (not the slim - otherwise spine info couldn't be seen). I've found some decent software I want to try out that offers different organization options, but and more than willing to take any suggestions offered there as well. Just anything anyone can offer would be most helpful. Thank you in advance.

http://www.cdcovers.cc/ also look at the top right of that page and find "Cover XP". Works for printing downloaded covers.

Edit-Cases super cheap, try dumpster diving at BlockBuster. Every week I bring home anywhere from 25 to 75 brand new cases they throw out.

Wow, thanks! That really helps a lot! What do you find to be the best time to get cases from Blockbuster? The night before they release new movies? Maybe I can ask them to give them to me. Ever had any luck with that or just go out after closing and rummage around?

I work midnights and stop Fri. and Tuesday(before they open). I never asked them to save them. I always found what I needed. Found a PS game once to. For cataloging my movies I use http://www.collectorz.com/movie/ when I bought it was only $29.99. It gathers the info from on line once you enter the title. There are free programs that do almost the same thing, but I like this one. When I hit 2300 movies I ran out of space to put them. Now I rip and convert to DivX and put 5 movies on a disc.

Oh, ok awesome. Well I'll definitely be sure to start stopping by and see what I can do. But that's awesome, so you convert to Divx and can fit 5 movies on 1 disc? I'm just asking because I'm quickly approaching the 2k mark and worried about room myself. So how's the quality with that? And also, can you post a guide on how to do that? And do are you able to copy the menu's and everything with it, or just the movies? I just ask because sometimes I like the bonus stuff, too.

Also, for Collectorz, I've been looking at that and really considering picking it up. Did you just get the software or did you get a scanner, too? I was thinking that getting a scanner for bar codes would make it easier to borrow movies to people. Because of my large collection, I always have friends and family wanting to borrow movies and it's quite often that I never see them again and would like some sort of system to be able to "check" them out to them, just to be able to keep tabs on who has what movie. Is that possible with that software or have you tried anything with that?

Thanks again for all your help!

http://www.dvdfab.com/dvd-fab-platinum.htm This is the main program I use. Choose generic, will convert to .avi(same as .divx). I run 2 pass encode and quality is pretty good. About 850mb per movie. You can set how big or small your result is. I then open DivX player(has a built in burner) drag and drop to the burner. Converting to avi/divx no menus. Collectors just the program no scanner. Yes it has a loan system so you know who has what.
