I'am currently using dvd shrink w.decripter 3.2 and nero 6.3.1 during playback on a dvd player the movies freeze& stop playing. i 've check all software on my system everything seems ok. i have check nero toolkit and found my aspi system installation is corrupted. aspi on nero is working ok.
playback pixilations, freezings and skippings are mostly due to bad media used! Here is a media guide: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm use this free program to find out what your manufacturer ID is: http://www.dvdinfopro.com/ use better media like Taiyo Yuden, Verbatim, Sony, Maxell, and other discs that are MADE IN JAPAN and your problems should go away!
Also don't burn at too high of a speed. =) Try and keep it around 2x-4x Personally if i burn higher then 4x the movie will freeze and skip.
What drive is showing these freezing issues while you watch them? PC dvd-rom drive? PC Dvd-RW drive? Stand alone player/s? What area of your backups are the freezing issues occuring? Beginning/random/or towards the end of your backup? It helps to know what type of drive is showing those issues. 95% of the time,it's usually stand alone player/s at fault. You need to verify one of those problematic backup discs. You need to note the area of the disc that they freeze. Then play them on your pc using the dvd-rw drive that burned it.Look that area over good for the freezing. That dvd-rw drive should play it and look near original in quality. Also verify them in other pc drives or stand alone players and see how they react to them. Nero's aspi is all I use. According to nero,I also have no aspi installed. That's ok. Your nero is out of date, but so is my OEM 6.0.0.21b Another thing to keep an eye on is your burner's firmware. It may need updated. This controls the write strategy for your blank media. What's the brand name and model# of your dvd-rw drive? Nero infotool will tell you your firmware version. It'll also tell you the MID code of your blank media. Let us know what the firmware version and MID code is.
hi everyone. I have the same problem with the dvds i burned. i burned the movies using nero and dvd shrink. when i play it on the Philips DVP 642 i believe that's the name, it freezes about halfway through the movie. so i tried it on my dvd R/W drive and it works fine. Could it be the dvd media im using or the dvd player that's causing the problem? I use TDK blank media and had the dvd player for about 2 yrs now. Appreciate any helps. thx.
Could be several possibilities: 1)TDK media, try something better. Office depot and Bestbuy has sony on sale sunday.Pick up a spindle that says made in japan on the wrapper. Office max has verbatim on sale. All these sales are $15 a 50 pack. 2) Your dvd-rw drive confirms it is ok.Maybe try different burn speed-usually lower. 3) Your 2 year old player: That's all I get out of mine, but I use them quite a bit. Maybe dirty lens? If the quality media doesn't take care of it,then clean it. This cleaning is a last resort, before drive replacement. 4)Test out some of your older TDK backups and see if they show that freezing issues. Try to run a disc identifying program like dvdidentifier/dvdinfopro/nero infotool/etc and post back that MID code..TDK,like most brand named media, uses many different manufacturers and quality will vary between them.
appreciate the help everybody. I test out my older TDK DVDS and they work fine, but i do see some scramble pixels occurring a few times. Also, only the new dvds i burn about 2-3 months ago started acting strange as it freeze halfway, and sometimes won't even play at all. I test the DVDS on a no-name dvd player i have and it work perfect. i had no problems with the burned dvds until recently with the added security on the newer dvd movies out there, and have to use other programs just to remove them.
That 2 yr old player seems to be the culprit.Your no-brand name player confirmed it. That player no longer likes those TDK backups. Try the quality media first. If it acts up again: Maybe a lens cleaning is in order? Last resort though, before replacement. I had the exact same thing. After a couple years,my very reliable sony dvp ns-325 started losing it. Started with the freezing even on taiyo yuden media. A lens cleaning helped, until I slapped in some verbatim Dual layers and it acted up. A new $35 wal-mart special took care of that. Those el-cheapo players usually play anything you throw at them.
Could the problems be also in the burning program? I use Nero 6.6.0.13 and havent updated it yet. Would you recommend updating the software or it won't make any differences?
I just use the oem discs. I just got a new nero oem 6.6.0.14 and it is awesome. Recode2/full use of speed test/burning rom/and express. I have nero 6.0.0.21b on my other 2 pcs and they work great. I did update one of them last year and started running into problems. I couldn't erase my rws. I uninstalled nero/ran nero cleantool6/and downloaded my original oem disc and no issues after that. Some say to update it,I say leave it alone. There's a few things about nero. Anytime it is uninstalled-run the nero cleantool6. Download it again, leave out the INCD packets. They can also screw you up. Some peeps have trouble. Running the nero cleantool6 gets rid of all remnants of nero. Here it is: http://www.nero.com/nero6/de/Nero_6_Clean_Tool.html I've set up 7 pcs using nero oem discs in the versions of 6.0/6.3/and 6.6 and no trouble with any of them.None have been updated. Try picking up some quality media. There are sales starting today: Office Depot and Bestbuy has sony. Get the spindles that say Made In Japan for the sony tys-in the 1x-8x speed. Office Max has verbatim 16x. 50 pk for $14.99. I will be picking up several hundred today. These are top notch stuff, and in my benqs-they perform better at the faster burn speeds.
I just reinstall my old nero 6.0.0.13 and for some reason i still have the problem of movie freezing. I heard the INCD may be causing the problem. Any idea of how to remove or disable this feature?
When you download nero, off of your oem disc,Don't load the INCD packets. When you insert that nero OEM and it opens up the disc, you'll probably see: Nero burning rom Nero xpress Nero showtime Nero Incd and maybe another INCD packet. To have nero autoburn with dvd shrink, you need Nero Burning rom. Try downloading this tool to completely remove all remnants of nero off your PC: http://www.nero.com/us/Nero_6_Clean_Tool.html Use device manager to remove nero and then run nero cleantool6. Now install that nero disc, just downloading nero burning rom. Now if some players have no problem with it and your philips does: Run a hard cleaning disc through it. It's a last resort after ruling out: Media quality from a reputatable manufacturer Burn speed Dvd-rw plays it perfect Other stand alones play it perfect These cleaning discs can be harsh on the laser, sometimes knocking it off alignment. I consider the lens cleaning disc as a last resort, before drive replacement.
