Movies on external hard drive

    I have been backing up my DVD's to my computer and most of them are stored in either VOB or MKV files. I'm trying to save them where either my xbox 360 or PS3 can read them (both would be best) I have tried different converters ( free or trial) and cant seem to get something going. I have tried reading the guides and different post with the search box ( working on two weeks) and cant find a straight up answer on what to do.

    If someone knows a guide or an how do that would be great, along with list of programs and steps ( I figured this has been asked but overlooking it some how)

    Let me clear this up. basically I want to convert VOB to MP4
