I was wondering if i could move a program from a old windows partition to a new one but the program is gonna be on a diffrent partition its like this.. Parition 1 Disk 1 - Windows Old (gonna be used for Applications Partition 1 disk 2 - Stoarge now ( gonna be used for games) Parition 1 Disk 3 - New Hdd ( gonna reinstall windows) Parition 2 Disk 3 - Gonna be used for storage. I was wondering if anyone knows if thier is a program out thier that will let me move programs from 1 parition to the next and copie the Registry to it. I know i could use a disk drive image like norton ghost and copy the whole parition but i want a clean install cause im having problems with windows and got alot of crap on it. This should also speed up things cause everything will be running from diffrent paritions. I was thinking i could export my registry manuelly move everything then reedit everything in my parition but that would take a very long time. Does anyone know of any current programs that would do this for me.? This should probly be posted under software but i couldnt find a software page. If this is not clear enough just let me know ill try to explain it the best i can.. Thanks alot, Satanstheory (Thoery)
Wouldn't it be better to do just that, beside's i'm not to sure but i think your o/s is gonna have to be Parition 1 Disk 1 ( disc 1 partition c: ) then just add your other partitions as you like...
Well im gonna do that. But i would also like to transfer some of my programs from the old partition i dont feel like digging for disk and no it doesnt have to be on the first disk on the first parition. The parition just has to be active.
Thoery Try going here and reading this first if you haven't already reinstalled everything on your pc. http://pcworld.about.com/magazine/2109p156id111652.htm
I have 3 hard drives i dont need to wory about backing up data... Thats what all that is.. but thanks anyways.. Im looking to move programs to diffrent paritions so they change the registry and everything.
I found a program that can move partitions to a diffrent drive, system mechanic. What if i use that move them all to thier correct drives then backup the registry and import it into my new operating system.. Would thier be any other files i would need to copy over.?and would that work?
