Hi, I downloaded from the internet a file that contains a lot of music which extension says mp3. When I try to play the following messages appears: "The file that you are attemting to play has the extension (.mp3)that does not match the file format. Playing the file may result in unexpected behavior. Do yo want the player to try to play thus content?" When I press yes, the following pop up window appears, "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. close web help I try web help and according to the list of codecs that my player have I have mp3. My machine is a laptop Toshiba with windows vista and is one year old so I understand that I have the latest windows media player What can I do to fix this problem and play the 2.4 gb of music that I downloaded I'll really appreciatte your support Regards
Use a Hex editor and view the very first page of data. Virtualdub has a Hex viewer, under tools. It's probably a false file suffix, it could be a RAR, ISO, could be anything. If you look at the first page of data, save to jpg and post it here, somebody may recognize it.
