Hi, I am Modi from Mumbai, India. I happen to see an article by you on the net. SO I thought of trying to clarify a funda abt mp3 from you. Please. 1. I have some mp3 files of some discourses. When I copy the same to a CD and play on my portable MP3 player (chinese make), it palys at high speed. Other mp3 CD are working ok I am told that the bitrate concept in mp3 files is the casue for the same? Is this true? If yes, What can I do now? I am basically trying to convert some holy discourses for my portable MP3 player.
I've never heard of problems like this, but I can immagine what could be the reason: The sampling rate of the mp3s that play back too fast could be something like 32kHz, 24kHz or 22.05kHz. If your player only supports 44.1kHz mp3s, it tries to read the lower sampling rates files as if they were 44.1kHz resulting in increased speed and higher pitch. You could test if this is the reason by encoding some tracks with LAME using different --resample <....> settings. If you play back the files that caused this problem on your mp3 CD player with WinAmp or Foobar2000 on your PC, these players will show the sampling rate, so you'll get valuable information too. If you found the problem's reason you can encode the discourses again with settings that work with your mp3 CD player.
