Hi there, I have managed to rip audio of a dvd into individual mp3 files and also one big mp3 file that holds all the tracks. I am wanting to burn either onto CD, so that the CD plays wihtout any gaps and also enables you to skip tracks as well. I have tried knocking up a cue sheet, see example below: TRACK 19 AUDIO TITLE "WALK" PERFORMER "EXAMPLE" INDEX 19 01:31:48 PERFORMER "EXAMPLE" TITLE "Home" FILE "FILE.mp3" WAVE When I try and drop this into burrn, the title will appear but it will not produce any track listings, I think it's because of the format, I had to mess around with the last section, before even the title showed correctly, but still no joy with track listings. I have now used foobar2000 to knock up a playlist in m3u file format and dropped it into burrrn, which now shows tracks correctly, I have experimented with a two track demo, when the burning process in motion it spits out the cd at around 50% and reports it was successful, but the when played does not play or recognise the second track. I am using a cdr to burn onto, could this be a problem? I am also using Stomp Record Now Max to burn CD's. Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong or point me in the right direction.
Try using a .cue in combination with the single big .mp3 file like described here: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/77334 If it can be used in foobar2000 for playback and works as you want, it will work with burrrn for burning as well. BTW: If you have Nero installed, you can burn directly from foobar2000 (you need foo_burninate.dll component for this). I doubt that the cdrs used are the reason for your problems.
Hi there, Thanks for your comments Tigre, I have tried the .cue file from the link you supplied and burrrn does not like it, I have had to move parts around just to get the title displaying correctly. Original example: I had to move the first part to the bottom of the cue sheet so that title and artist would isplay properly. I have tried different variations but no success, really frustrating as it's the last hurdle. Can you offer anymore advice on what might be wrong here?
Your .cue file looks somewhat unusual... I've e.g. never seen "INDEX 19" before, only 00 or 01. If you want to have an example for a valid .cue file, rip a CD to single .mp3 + .cue file with ExactAudioCopy. I've just done this, here's the result: The "ISRC 000000000000" lines can be removed without any problem; The .cue works perfectly for burning with EAC, or Burrrn and for playback with foobar2000. If you edit .cue files manually, it's important that the .cue file points to the the correct .mp3 file, that there are two "INDEX" lines (00 + 01) for the 1st track and that the "TRACK xx" numbers as well as the related "INDEX 01 xx:xx:xx" timestamps are ascending.
Hi there, Thanks once again, i have had partial success thanks to Tigre, foobar2000 now displays the correct tracks and times and also allows me to skip from one track to another, hurrah The only problem I have now is that I do not have nero to burn a CD, so I was relying on burrrn to do the job for me, the problem is the cue sheet that works in foobar2000 is no better in burrrn than before! I don't know what the problem is, I am assuming that all I have to do is drop the cue sheet into burn and the tracks should appear, pretty much like foobar2000, i am using burrrn v1.10 what version is yours Tigre? Even if I try and load your example sheet (remembering to change to file line to point to one of my files, this trick worked in foobar2000) it just brings up the artist and title, which is incorrect anyway and the rest blank! Which is the same result if i drag and drop my cue sheet. Would downloading a trial copy of nero be enough to get this burnt onto CD? Any suggestions would be most grateful. One last push, oooh.
I just noticed that I use version 1.05 in spite I thought I installed the latest version some weeks ago. Anyway, I've just reinstalled... and it still works with a mp3 I ripped to a single file myself with EAC and lame. Here's a possible reason for your problem from Burrrn Changelog: You could try this: - Make a security copy of the mp3, load the mp3 in fb2k playlist and rightclick -> fix mp3 header. Maybe the resulting mp3 will work with Burrrn. If not, do this: - Decode the mp3 to a single .wav file with fb2k, 16 bit, use resampler to 44100 kHz if the sampling rate of the mp3 (displayed on fb2k playback) is different. Edit the .cue like <FILE "Decoded_file.wav" WAVE>. Now it should work. If not ...: - Load the .cue to fb2k and decode to .wav as single tracks. Load the tracks manually to Burrrn and burn them. Alternatives: - Use a Nero trial (works indeed, but download is > 20MB) - Use ExactAudioCopy for burning. It can handle .cue files too. BTW: It might be a good idea to report your problems to Burrrn developer, ideally here: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?showtopic=17141&st=80& You might want to read the last couple of posts in that thread, maybe the buggy version of 1.10 that was replaced silently by a fixed one, is the one you use...
Hi there Tigre, I have managed to get burrn to accept the cue sheet, i downloaded a exactaudiocopy and drop my sheet in there, it came back with a few errors on the sheet, so I checked it out, and sure enough, there were a couple of rogue comments, not surprising a user error hey, cringe. Thanks for all your help, very much appreciated, just spent the whole easter holiday getting this to work, don't you just love it though As you know your stuff Tigre, can I just ask another quick qustion, sorry to keep pestering you, here goes... Now all that's left to do now is too burn a CD, if I have an mp3 which has audio duration well beyond a CD-R, is going it going to be possible to burn onto CD using the cue sheet method? The two apps I have tried to use are complaing there isn't enough room. I was under the impression that using one big mp3 file would allow me to fit this audio on CD and use the, cue sheet to skip tracks, this was the reason why i decided to use cue sheets method. Are the apps converting the mp3 back to another format to record onto CD?
There are "oversized" CD-R media like 90 or 99 minutes. You have to check if your burner supports them and if your standalone equipment will be able to play them back. To convert the mp3 to a single .wav file you can use fb2k as I've told in my previous post: (Details: Load .mp3 to playlist, rightclick -> convert -> settings -> choose WAV fixed point, 16bit etc.; close settings. rightclick -> convert -> run conversion. You can use a wave editor like audacity to trim the .wav file before burning (use a .cue again...) Or use a .cue for trimming + decoding to .wav at once in foobar2000: Example: The mp3 is 85:10 minutes, your CD-R is 79:xx minutes. You want to remove 3 seconds of silence in the beginning and the last track = 5:40 minutes. Create a .cue for the .mp3 with 3 tracks: TRACK 01 AUDIO TITLE "First Cut" INDEX 01 00:00:00 TRACK 02 AUDIO TITLE "Keep This" INDEX 01 00:03:00 TRACK 03 AUDIO TITLE "Second Cut" INDEX 01 79:30:00 Load the .cue to fb2k, only highlight the "Keep This" track and convert to .wav. The result will fit on the CD and you need a .cue with modified time indexes (because of the 3 seconds cut in the beginning) for burning correctly. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]AFTERDAWN FORUM RULES: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/2487[/small]
