Ok, I need to split an mp3. I know that mp3 splitter does this own its own by detecting a pause or low beat. The problem is that I need to split Trance music tracks that for the most part is one set with no pauses. I have the cue sheets for the sets, so how do I load them into mp3 splitter? they are .cue and mp3 splitter does not reconize them. Thanks!

I use mp3 surgeon. it can split the mp3 according to the cue file. mp3 splitter and joiner is another good one. if you want to burn it to a CD with the individual tracks, you can use EAC (exact audio copy)

in mp3 surgeon, run the split wizard, and you have the option to manually select edit points, or to select a cue file. try loading it with mp3 surgeon and see if it works. if not, something is wrong with your cue file.

Sorry to be a bother. Do you know where I can get a trial version that can handle more than a 4mb file?

I think all trial versions are going to have limitations, I have yet to find a splitter thats freeware. EAC is free however, you can give that a try, however it doesn't split the mp3, it only burns it to CD with the tracks split.

After playing around with the programs I think Ill just manually split the tracks out using sound forge! little more work but the surgeon isnt free and the splitter keeps freezing up! I used a neat program called Musicutter to at least read the cue file and from there i got the track info! Thanks for all your help. If you can think of a better way please let me know!

yeah there's always the manual way. Since I don't know of any freeware splitters, I can't think of any other option, except for trying EAC like I suggested. But hopefully you can split it accurately in sound forge. You can always just open the cue file in notepad, which will tell you the track times so you know where to chop it up in sound forge.

didnt think note pad would be able to read a cue file but great idea. do you know sound forge pretty well? there is an option that allows you to insert a playlist and it will mark the tracks for me. is there a way of converting a cue file into a playlist file? man i love afterdawn!

I used to use sound forge a few years ago, but I actually use mainly Pro Tools, which is a high end professional audio recording/editing program. I don't recall there being a playlist marking option, but like I said I haven't used it in at least five years, so the new versions might have that option. yeah right click on the cue file, select open with, and select notepad from the programs list.
