Could someone help me understand the process on converting an mp3 to a wav file or any software that might help with this? Thanks

If you rip it to your hard drive like from windows media 10 or 11 you can then burn it to a disc as a wav file that is the same as a store bought disc if your player supports MP3 you can burn a disc in MP3 over 100 songs to SL disc, in wav only 12 or 15 depends how long the song is.MP3 file is very small wav is very large.

When you convert from MP3 to Wave, then burn to
CD, is any audio quality lost?

No. The quality wasn't there to begin with in the MP3, so converting it back to WAV isn't going to change it. WAV is lossless.
