mp4 to avi

    can someone help me out, having problems with this, i can convert no problem, but the results are very grainy from mpeg-4 to divx/avi using total video converter. any suggestions on how i can convert without quality loss, i use nero as well, all suggestions welcome, thank you

    In Total Video Converter, did changing the quality settings make any difference.

    when i converted the mpeg-4 to divx/avi there was an option for the quality, to be either divx high,low, and normasl, i chose high, maybe bad idea?

    What format is the file in originally? avi is just a container for many many formats including mp4
