    hi there everyone,

i have a recording on my hard drive captured from astra 1c satellite feed, and unfortunately the mpeg2 files have invalid header stating that it is NTSC coded 29.970 fps movie, although the real fps is 25 in PAL format.

i'd need to hack the header and change the appropriate data at the appropriate offset to be able to work the files up with some trimmer program.

can anyone of you have information about at what offset i can find the data code for NTSC format (2) to be changed to PAL (1) and the data code for 29.970 fps (4) to be changed to 25 fps (3) ?

    cheers,

    bias.

You do not that will screw up the sound and you'll have to fix that too?

i don't think so. i tell you why. the recording is PAL coded with PAL sound. the problem was that the algorythm was set to NTSC, so the header is different from what the movie itself is. if i use any mpeg-2 utilities, the sound is okay (anyway it is only a low-bitrate reference for later sound-editing, i have recorded the sound parallelly in a wav file in another hard drive to avoid clicks and bandwidth problems), but the picture is always 1/4 faster. that's because of this problem, the utilities think it is 29.970 fps, although it is 25 fps only.

    any other thoughts/help?

    bias.
