Hello, I am new here and not so hot on the computing stuff, so go easy on me. Would appreciatte some help though, so here is the problem..... downloaded 6 mpeg clips from a site. Decided to edit them together and burn to VCD. Used Movie Maker to edit. Once clips are on the timeline/storyboard 4 out of the 6 clips show 2 or 3 frames and then is blackness, no image. Clips play fine outside of trying to edit them, in normal use (QT PLayer automatically pops up and plays when clip is clicked). Tried to use Movie joiner, once joined some clips completely disappeared (still in the file list tho). Attempted using TMPGEnc new and old versions to convert the clips to something esle or reconvert, but the prog kept crashing, or showing error messages. Tried VitualDub but didnt understand what it was meant to do. Used AVIcodec to look at File, Video and Audio - Video Codec: MPEG 1 (VCD, Supported. Audio Codec: Mpeg-1 Audio Layer 2[0xc0], Supported. File quality is 14%. Thought that might be it quality problem (crap in crap out as i have read on the boards, mmmm), thing is all of the clips have the same quality %. Next used MPEG-Corrector but made no difference. Anyway thats about it really, never had a prob before doing similar stuff... Any suggestions? Can't re-download clips tho. Really need to edit them too and join... Please help, apologies for the long windedness of this post.

These files are allready in VCD Format so you Can Just Burn them to CD-R...If you really want to Join them you can use Tmpgenc"s Mpeg editor...Open Tmpgenc then go to "File" to "Mpeg Tools" to "Merge & Cut" and Load the Files in in the Right order then choose the correct format from the Dropdown menu and choose an output name and then click Run and then wait a couple minutes and that is it....

Minion, I started reading threads to see if I could help some people. I didn't know that TMPGenc had a joiner included. Thanks for your explicit instructions, it worked great.

And as you Probably noticed it also has a Multiplexor and a De-Multiplexor which are handy tool also.and you can use the Joiner as a basic mpeg Editor also so you can cut your files.....cheers

mmmm, after working with TMPEnc i am totally disallusioned with this prog, why? cos now it crashes, gives out mad error messages constantlty and now won't even open. Have downloaded it 3 times in the hope that one might function correctly - mmmha exasperating!

just thought i would add that from what i have read here and elsewhere it does indeed sound like a great prog, lots of interesting functions - but what can you do if it won't even open?
