MPEG2 audio out of sync after Re-encode

    Hi I am trying to transfer home movies from vhs to svcd. The problem I am having is that after I capture the video I re-encode it to be svcd compliant. Any program that re-encodes it causes the audio to be out of sync. So far I have tried TMPGenc, nero, and roxio. I addition I tried capturing directly from roxio. All have the same audio problem. Before I try to re-encode the mpeg2 files they play fine. I have a ati rage 128 pro with video card and use at video in 7.1 to capture.

    Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    The following program can help sync audio and video back by first demultiplexing the svcd and then multiplexing it back. The program is moonlight cordless muxer 2.03 you can download it at the following website

    Hi I tried the program in vain unfortunately it has the same problem. For de-multiplexing tmpgenc demultiplexer reports four streams:

    video_stream 0x00
    private_stream_1 (0x00)
    padding_stream
    audio_stream 0x00

    could either of the two middle stream (i.e. the padding stream) have anything to do with the sync error.

    After I used the moonlight muxer to remux the file the private stream was gone.

    The next step i would suggest is to strip the audio from the svcd with Virtual Dub Mpeg2 1.54 you can download it here http://www.softnews.ro/public/cat/11/2/3/11-2-3-1.shtml

    If you not familiar with this program here is a easy guide
    1) file - open video file - click it ( you may get errors at this point but try it anyways)
    2) under audio settings - direct stream copy must be checked and source audio
    3) back to (file) scroll down to (wav) click on it (name and save to file) and away you go

    after stripping the audio out try to mux it with the video you demultiplex with the moonlight muxer, you can select just video demultiplex only by its self, do that then i would recommend at that point to use tmpgenc to mulitplex it back together use the mpeg-2 super video cd (VBR) setting for it will also rewrite the super vcd header for you

    Thanks for the help. What I actually did to fix it was use a version of ati multimedia center that is suppose to be incompatable with my videcard (version 7.7). It actually fixed a couple of things including the audio sync problem and an incorrect aspect ratio. With movies captured with the new program the private_stream_1 is gone. Again thanks for your help, you at least introduced me o several usefull programs.
