...anyone who's read my posts in the DivX/Xvid to DVD thread ought to know that I'm having issues converting. But that's not what I'm here for.

(And if the proceeding question is s'posed to be in some other section, please tell me. I still haven't got the layout of this place yet.)

I know there are some DVD players that will play mpeg4 files, but a) I don't have the money, b) I have no way of ordering it online or buying from a store, and c) I don't have the money. Anyway, would it be possible to convert my AVI file to a VCD- or DVD-compatible mpeg4 format? Or would I have to stick with VOB?

There is No DVD compatible Mpeg-4 format....All Standard DVD"s "Must" use the Mpeg-2/Vob file format...If you Burn a mpeg-4/DivX file to a CD/DVD it is not considered a Standard DVD it is simply a Mpeg-4/DivX File burned to a DVD/CD as Data....

So if you want the Movies to play on a Regular DVD player then you will have to use the Mpeg-2/Vob format.....

    Cheers

PS: Were I live in Canada there is a sale at the "Future Shop" on DivX Certified DVD Players for $29.99, so if your canadian you now know were to get one Pretty cheaply...

Oh, okay. So it'd be basically like burning Xvid videos to CD.

Alright, then. Thanks. I s'pose this thread can close, then.
