I used tmpeng to transfer an avi to mpg, used nero to burn as a vcd. it plays perfect in WMP, but the video is blocky and unwatchable on my apex dvd player. sound is perfect. I have ripped and burnt many dvd's in the past and they all play perfect in both wmp and my apex. but...when I convert from an avi to mpg first..the above always happens..what am I doing wrong here? anyone?
If you downloaded the file it will probably be in low quality. Because TVs are generally much bigger than monitors the picture has to stretch to fit the screen and that would probably make the dots show up more.
figured it out, in case someone else has this problem in future. I took the mpg file, and burnt with nero. after it checked file, it gave me an error screen, and asked if I want to reencode, or turn off standard compliance, before..i have always chosen the latter..so I rencoded thru nero, and burnt 2 perfect vcds..
The nero reencoding process can take so long. What is a way around this? I use tmpge to encode the avi to mpeg1, but still nero gives me the msg to either let it reencode or turn off the compliance. What am I doing wrong?
Didn;t you find that the VCD's produced when NERO re-encode's the file for you are Crap?? I made 3 VCD's using nero to encode my movies, and at about the 10 minute mark they begin to turn to crap. Including out of sync sound, and a wierd pulsing pixelation ever 2 seconds. Have you watched the whole VCD? I bet you it turns to crap.
