   Hope someone can help me...
   I've got a MPG file 171 MB big for 17 minutes video that I want to compress. I read that avi-DIVX is the best format with to much loss of quality.
   
   Can someone tell me which program to use?
   What settings?

   Transcoding from mpg to avi will dramatically reduce quality. You said 171mb for 17 minutes so that is most likely VCD encoded and if it is trust me you dont want to transcode to divx!
