    hi burner
You need to use a dvd authoring program, like TMPGEnc dvd author.(trial version available)
This turns your mpegs into vob files, which you can then burn, in dvd authors writing tool or the burner program of your choice.
You will find the guides and download at the top of this page.
I'd link you up myself, but im not at home, and dont have my links.
good luck and welcome to the club

so far this is what ive done... i open the video with tmpgenc and converted it to mpeg-2 format
i then open that file with mpeg encrypter and convert it to dvd format
then i demultiplex the file with tmpgenc
then i open the file with ifoedit and create the vob files ect.
now i burn it with nero i use dvd rw cuz so far everything ive tried hasnt worked

are all of these steps needed do i need to do anything else? do i have to convert the file to mpeg 2 format before i do anything also which shud i use NTSC or PAL thx for the help

    Hi burner 413,

Your MPEG files must be DVD-video compliant. See http://www.afterdawn.com/glossary/terms/dvd-video.cfm.

If they are not, convert them with the TMPGEnc encoder (for instance). Then build the DVD with an authoring tool:
    - IfoEdit (free)
    - DVDAuthorGui (free)
    - TMPGEnc DVD Author (70 $)

Any of these tools requires demuxed files (separate audio and video streams).

If you have Nero 6, you can use NVE( NeroVision Express) as an alternative. Just run NVE, select "Make new DVD", import your MPEG files (no conversion needed) and click Next a few times. You'll get a DVD. Don't expect great image quality though.

    Cheers,

    Daba

    Hi Everyone..
I'm somewhat a newbie here also.. have a quick question: I've been trying to convert an .avi to .mpg so I can put it in Nero Express to burn as DVD. Problem is, every program I try gives me atleast a 13hr time to convert! Is there any programs out there that are faster? Doesnt' seem worth it if I have to wait all night for one file to convert.

    Any answers? Thanx !

    hi Pemaci
Your encoding times seem way out of line.Im not sure what the problem is, except maybe too small of a processor or not enough ram.
When i use TMPGEnc encoder it take about 2 hours per 1 one hour of movie to encode,MainConcepts encoder usaully does it in real time, or faster, and ive heard the cinema craft encoder does it even faster altho im not familiar with that program.(trial versions available for all three).
    good luck

    Hi Jim

Thanx for replying..and the info. Not sure what it is.. I was trying EO video.. I have 750mhz processor, w/ 256 mb ram. I have TMPGenc, but have not tried it yet. Once converted thru Tmpg, do I then have to convert to a .vob, then use Nero? I'm pretty confident in using these programs.. just need a little jump start.

    Thanx

    hi Pemaci
Yes you put your mpgegs in a dvd authoring program(several available with trail versions) I use TMPGEnc dvd author,to rip vob files from your mpeg, and then you can burn with dvd author or the burning program of your choice. There are some free programs out there but im not familiar with them i like dvd author.

oh yeah i almost forgot, your processor is a bit small and you could use some more ram,but you should be able to make do with what you have.
