.mpg to play on dvd-r

    wats happenin. im pretty new to this. dont now if this question has alrdy been answered but here we go. i hookd up my vcr to the pc played a movie and recorded it to the hardrive. now i want to burn it to a dvd-r but nero not lettin me tellin i need to change the format of the movie file to a dvd file. wanted to now how i go about doing this? from .mpg to ts or wateva it meant to b? is there software to let me do this?

    Is it a DVD Compliant Mpeg2 File or is It Just a Mpeg file encoded useing whatever settings???

    i wud say the second one all i did was hook up my vcr to the comp played the tape and recorded it to the hardrive, now i want to make it watchable thru the dvd player as a dvd

    We understand that, but what program did you use to "record it to the harddrive"? What settings did you use? If you don't remember, then you will need to use another program to determine which mpeg format it is recorded in, at what bitrate and resolution, etc. and then if it is not DVD-compliant then you will need to use a program to convert it to DVD-compliant specs to that it can then be fed into a DVD authoring program and burned to DVD.
