MS Ban Hammer - 10.30.09

So I have a question. And firstly, I am almost tempted to unplug my wireless adapter and never go on Live again and burn and play games whenever they do come out early. I am not much of an online gamer and right now my console has full functionality, so pulling it off Live almost seems like a smart idea. And maybe down the road I would buy a new console and only play legit games off it. Okay, my question. If I create an offline profile and play unverified games or play them early, if I connect to Live through a separate profile, does it send info from all profiles or just the one profile that's connecting online?

So either I completely pull it off or keep being patient and waiting for things to verify. But my fear is if its just a matter of time for me being flagged and then having a console lose some functionality

 

the only thing i can think of thats causing all these bans are people playing pre-released games at-least games that haven't been released in the u.s...what i mean is a euro release that still hasn't made it to the u.s release date but is region free...cause i never play games early and i have a modded 1.6 lite on i run backups on and i haven't been banned O.O

 

It has to be something to do with the games....I have a benq with 1.4 on it and it still runs on live with no problems....

it doesnt MATTER whether pre-released or NOT, i didnt play ANY games pre-released and i STILL got banned checked all my games with abgx and YES still got banned. i've said this like 5 times already....why say that its just people that have played pre-released games???? THAT IS NOT TRUE...pre released or NOT, u'll STILL get banned......

So we really don't know why people have been banned. I played forza 2 weeks early, played a bad copy of lego batman, played night at the museum early, played unverified copy of rock band metal track pack, all while signed into live under a silver account, upgraded to gold about a month ago. I only bought a 3 month. But yeah I am thinking of pulling the plug on the network seeing everything is working on my console right now.

 

Be a lot more cred in this thread if posted by regulars and not noobs.

 

this is why you don't play games before they are released. Still doesn't make you safe.

 

All of you "regulars" are looking at this in the same way. Maybe somebody that doesnt have a horse in this race might see something from a different angle that you wouldnt see? ;-)

So I think after Tuesday I am pulling the plug from Live. Why Tuesday? Cause Lego Rock Band is out and I want to export those songs. Then i'm just going to play offline and maybe next year when I have my own place i'll get another console to use online

 

The problem is that there is no pattern. This happens every time there's a ban wave and if there was a pattern, someone would have spotted it by now. However MS are detecting people - and my guess is that it's a combination of things that they look for - it's not an exact science.

I think these threads are largely pointless because it usually goes like this: -

Person A - "I think it's X that's causing the ban!"
Person B - "But I haven't done X and I'm banned!"

And it basically goes on and on like that, or you'll get people listing all kinds of info and you only have to read half a dozen posts to see that there are no common factors.

All you can really do is assume that the various ways that MS might detect you are true (the ones that aren't provably false that is) and use common sense to try and avoid them. Ripping your own originals (or only playing abgx360 verified games if you download them) and not playing before the release date seems to keep the majority safe, even if the odd one gets caught, yet we still have the same questions being asked over and over again. Some people don't take those precautions and they get away with it, but some people speed all the time and don't get a speeding ticket - it doesn't mean that it's a particularly good idea.

 

guys I was 100% safe, never playing a game that was not stealthed or verified. As well as never playing a game until the release date. and SHABAM. on Oct 30 my console was banned.

funksoulb is right. This same crap has been going on since the first ban wave. That's why most of us regulars don't even posting in threads like this. It's a huge waste of space.

Eight pages of this thread alone could be cut out. It's useless posts of people saying they weren't banned. That info helps absolutely nothing. And you can see that 90% of the posts are newbies who'll come here, post once or twice, then leave.

And anyone who does bother to weed through these ump-teen pages of crap to read valid posts of those who were banned will find absolutely nothing by random console info.

There is no pattern.
