MS Ban Hammer - 10.30.09

true. Keep to topic please guys.

 

Is there usally only one ban wave a year. Are we safe for a year now.
Just want to know whether to change from monthly subscription to yearly to save a few.

 

Does anyone know if these banwaves have hit Europe yet? Not one post on any website have said they have been banned in Europe (that I can find)

Seems very weird as the past 3 banwaves I've been in have had a worldwide ban?

UK bans are happening right now. I just checked and I'm not banned (yet), but people from the UK on other sites are reporting that they've just been hit. Apparently, bans in Spain occurred on the 30th. Don't know any other info just yet.

There's been about 1 console ban wave per year up to now, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they'll carry on doing it like that in the future.

EDIT - Bans are also being reported in the Netherlands and further bans in the US are happening too.

 

This reminds me of War of the worlrds when everyone was reporting the aliens hovering over the cities.

I'm not normally one to complain about these kinds of things but my friends console just got banned today. No more borderlands for us.

I ripped/verified all of his games for him and flashed the console myself. His was a first revision lite-on drive with 1.6. Never played a game early, all of them checked through abgx, etc.

Mine isn't banned and we have both played the exact same things sharing discs sometimes.

Odd.

And in case anyone was wondering, he doesn't have any DVD+R DL's or a dual layer burner. So he couldn't have made his own.

 

i got banned today
i was playing halo odst, disconnected from live and when i tried to connect and got the ban console hammer
only the console got banned, i can still use my gamertag on windows live
have a lite-on with 1.51 firmare
bought the mappacks of codwaw because they were on sale last week
have a silver account because i recently got my xbox and had the 1month free but ended already
ALL games tested with abgx

i think the problem was that when i created my windows live account(where i created it first) i put that i lived in europe which i dont, and now that igot xbox played US games

 

It isn't necessary to make pirated copies yourselves, I am even stating that most n00bs who play burned games do not even have a own PC with burner .. the fact that you use copies in the Xbox 360 violates the Code of Conduct and deprives the game developers their own hard earned money. basically if someone have modified their console to play 'back-ups' they are taking willingly the risk of to be banned by Microsoft ..

 

So we can all confirm that these waves are still coming. Nice to know.

 

Hi guys, first post on this forum, actually i literally just signed up , just drop in and say, im from the uk and my mate just got banned a few hours ago. off the top of my head i think he had a 1.6 drive or upgrade? (i have no idea how to talk nerdy ) he has halo 3 odst and fifa 10, but didnt play them before release date. he got his games off of a back games provider... i was planning on getting my done friday guess not

 

Sorry I have not come on here before, but I never really needed to as I usually just use this site for information.

Well just wanted to say that I got hit with the ban today. I was using netflix this morning. I went out to lunch and came home to put netflix back on and it said I was banned. The system was purchased about 3 months ago from Walmart once the prices dropped.

I have a system upstairs which is still fine. That one was purchased about 3 years ago or so.

The strange thing is I keep my main gamertag on a memory card. When I went to go try my upstairs system I put the MU in and it didnt show my gamertag. I had to recover it on that system.

So oh well... what can you do. I understood going into this that it could possibly happand and it did. Now I just need to get an arcade system and go with it from there.

Anyway, this is a great site, and I enjoy reading the posts.

Hi, this is my first post on the forums, but am a long time reader. I read through all the posts.

I currently am running a 360 which i bought back in 2007. I have a Hitachi drive with 1.51 FW. I have not played games early, but have played red faction online. I have played all of my backups online. I have not been banned yet.

 

yep appears to have been another major wave of bans today... Best to just stay off LIVE until there is more news on what the deal is... Some are saying they never played games early and their games are 100% stealth but you know how that goes....

what does staying off live do? most likely the damage is already done... correct? im not sure how they spear head there ban waves but i would imagine its already to late if the waves are today. Right?

 

It's not gonna matter if u stay off live or not right now. If your gonna get banned they've already found you and will do it as soon as u turn Xbox live on. It's not like you can play hide and seek with them right now like they are hovering over your console for awhile and hope you come out to play. They've already found you. Not a hard concept people. Just don't play it games early and you SHOULD be fine.

 

I think it is kind of obvious that they can somehow detect firmware because the new 1.61 came out on thursday, and the ban wave started friday. So they could not have found a way to detect a new firmware in 1 day, they must be able to detect all kind of firmware.But i still dont get why they are only banning some people, while lucky people like me are not banned.

 

Yea i'm still one of the lucky ones only had mine modded for a month though and it was broke for a good week and half with the no video problem but I got that fixed. Will see what happen. I'm just wondering if Microsoft will do the ultimate F U and do the real ban right before mw2 is officially out. Who knows I'll enjoy it while it lasts. You can get refurbed xbox360s at Gamestop now for 120 so it's not a big deal to me.
