MS Ban Hammer - 10.30.09

I have an NME v2, and I got banned on the Oct. 30th. I was able to recover my gamertag on a new/unbanned console and it signed in to XBL just fine. When I moved the profile on to an MU and put it in the banned console, the profile became corrupted when I tried to go back and use it on new/unbanned console. It appears that I cannot move any of the save game data from the banned console to the new/unbanned console, as that reads corrupt as well. Anyone have this same problem? ..or anyone know how to succefully transfer saved game data from a banned console to a new console. ..and please don't state the obvious, because that doesn't work!

 

If you're banned you can't:

log on Live, that means: no online play, no downloads, no game updates, nothing that depends of Live

Also, you can't install GAMES into your hard drive. That's new and we don't know for sure what MS is doing.

What you can do is play all of your games OFFLINE. That means no online multiplayer.

You still can update you xbox system. But to do that you need to download the update on a PC and burn it to a dvd.

Id say wait till months end. didnt the past waves happen towards the end of the month? this one came earlier due to MW2 no doubt


and as far as profile going corrupt and save games. My 360 was banned lastnight. first thing i did was swap the HDD to another and check and my GT was fine and i went on to play borderlands online with friends using my save game.

im not saying dont get on live till after end of the month im just saying the Ban Wave could last that long.

Look staying off live will not keep you from being banned, its either going to happen or it isnt. so just play as normally and as always make sure you verify everything. thats it

 

Last time I played pirated copy was on 2nd November. Since thta day I just play Guitar Hero Metallica and Battlefield Bad Company which are my original games. I think M$ detects pirated games when users use HDD for downloading stuff from marketplace or saving pirated games on it. Since I just saved original games since that day, I think I'm safe... So far...

 

They got me today. Having the same problem with my profile some others have mentioned, where it doesn't even show up on other consoles. Will see if recovering it and moving the saves with a memory unit helps.

 

I think if MS was using the HDD to identify modded units they would also be trying to combat modded HDD too. and you dont even need a HDD to go on live you can use a memcard if you want.

 

I heard today that a bunch of people were banned last night. Thought it was just my friend (who I flashed his drive just 2 weeks ago), but I went to school today and I heard a couple people say they knew a few people that were banned last night...

My 360 is still fine, lol

I have a bunch of friends that want me to flash their consoles tomorrow because they all want MW2 but I don't know what to do because of this wave... Unless they ban by area and move on I doubt the wave is over?

 

Alot of people say this is pointless because you've already being flagged but I think I'll take your advice.

 

Read the ban wave thread from November last year. It started on the 10th and people were still getting banned over 2 weeks later. This one hasn't even lasted a week yet. You can't ever say that you're clear though, because who knows if all ban waves are going to be the same? If they have got a new method of detection, it could be an ongoing thing, or it might end today and nothing happens for another year - nobody can say for sure. People in the US got banned on the 30th of October, then again yesterday, so it's not like they ban in region A, then move on to region B which makes everyone in region A that didn't get caught safe. They're doing mini ban waves in one country, but then a day or two later there can be another mini ban wave in the same country again.

 

I might just get rid of my HDD and use Memory card and play original games only until the ban hammer is over.

All the consoles that get flagged probably have to be reviewed to make sure they are modded and not a damaged lens or something else causing irregularities which might explain why you can be safe at first but banned later. Possibly looking at all the flagged consoles from the past year or so now. Just my two cents.
