apparently this is one of the symptoms of the new bannwave + october update. according to sources "your banned xbox cannot be used to get achievments from backups without corrupting your profile"

Yeah that's right, they won't accept it. That's why they tell you over the phone, they won't accept it if it's banned.

 

If all these console bans are in fact true, it should be interesting to see what this does to the secondary market for used consoles. People will be selling XBL banned consoles to completely unsuspecting and not-in-the-know customers, who will in-turn try to use their console as a legitimate console on XBL and be told that they are banned - no further information can be given - and there is no relief for them.

That's like you buying a used car from the lot, and when you try to drive it on the highway the government tells you that you can't because the previous owner had too many DWI's... lolol... But you can still use it in your driveway to listen to the radio.

is this a new policy?, as i have read a few reports of people sending in modded and banned consoles with rrod and having no problem with getting them repaired. What about if you use the internet repair function, just checked and my status is still, "under warranty". My xbox is fine atm, but this sucks if things go wrong down the track

 

It will not work. Onced flagged, you lose your warranty.

 

Thanks I also tried this and found out I was banned, Lady said she had to run tests to see if I was elgible for a repair. Do you think they recovered my data then? System hasnt been online for the whole ban wave. But the system I ran test on seems to be working perfectly fine and still no ban. I wonder if calling brought on attention and got me banned lol anyway good test atleast i can truly keep a system for offline play and achievements. Thanks

 

Nah they don't recover anything. Once you're flagged to be banned, it'll be noted on the system that the employees use. No problem, I recommend to anyone that isn't yet banned to do this. You don't ask if you are banned, you just "inquire as to whether or not your console is eligible for repair. If it is, then say thanks, and just end the conversation there, if it's not, they will tell you, "No you cannot get it repaired because it says here it has violated the terms and conditions"

If you do this, you've got yourself an offline console to play games early on with the same profile you use for Live, and can keep the achievements rather than end up with corrupt data when you move it to another Xbox.

Can sum one that has been banned or been told they are banned see what there online repair function says.
My box is out of warranty so i cant ring and find out if im banned.

 

The RROD warranty is 3 years, not the usual 1 year, just FYI.

 

well it appears that Microsoft those money hungry bastards have banned people that have been caught playing bootleg copies or pirate copies or bad rips some people however that i have contacted via craigslist have told me that they don't know how they got banned and have not played any bad rips and have not played any game prior to its release date. people please stop playing a copy version of codmw2 it is causing the problem for most. there is no solid patch of stealth for it as of yet. I have heard of this guy out in los angeles that can fix it i wouldnt know how because after doing some research i know that they ban the serial number from being able to go onto live so the only way to get back from being banned would be either get a new xbox which isnt fair to alot of people... i personally say so what you pirated a game you didnt want to pay $60 for... good i do the same and if you dont like the idea of people doing that then guess what you pay for my game bitch. dont get me wrong i have a mod and havent been banned so its not like im mad for any other reason than to say god dammit microsoft we pay for the *bleep*en console we pay for the *bleep*en live leave us the *bleep* alone you already make crazy money let the poor people do what they have to do to play some games cause dammit 60 for a game is stupid its too much so i hope microsoft either loses customers and alot of money and people start to play with the ps3 if i were sony i would captalize on this and lower my games sorry went off into a tangent the other option i heard you can do so far is get the serial number changed in your motherboard which you need an unbanned 360 i hope someone with a higher Intel level can make a chip to install into the 360 to make it unbannable. so far the only thing you can do before you get banned is download the 1.7 version of the mod. now i could be wrong with anything i said here so please everyone feel free to comment get back to me start an argument either way if you pirate then good for you don't let this slow us down at all let this make us smarter and stronger and for the people that hate those who pirate the only thing i have for you is a good ole *bleep* you bumhole not everyone can pay for games like you can mother *bleep*er so go suck on your mothers tit for the 60 bucks for that game you want. as for everyone who got banned i hope for a cure to this disease and for everyone who is scared of getting banned then don't go online just yet wait for a better solution to this as to Microsoft you made the flaw to an awesome system we made a way to get games for free so guess what *bleep* you guys then i hope you keep losing money i hope you lose more money for doing this then you lose for just leaving us poor people be.

Its definatly the firm ware that they are detecting ive not played any 4 wave games,never played early releases and i download and patch all my own games. just got home from work with an original copy of cod mw2 and as soon as my console connected to xbox live i got banned gutted. to help my friends out does anyone no if you dont go online from now till you get this new firmware installed on your xbox will you be alright or is it time for a new xbox lol

not necessarily, i've seen that message up on their repair site before, simply call them up asking for repairs to find out if your banned, someone earlier said they were trying to get a repair when they called back and the m$ reps said they can't because they see your 360 is banned

 

**I've already posted before, but want to add additional info**

I was ban on 11/6 and I ripped my own games and patched them fine etc. etc. and haven't played a wav 4 game yet... only wave 2 and wave 3. Never DL a single game to play before release, been caught once before for DL psp games because I hacked that one too, so I only rip my own now.

My brother was ban on same day as I, and only played 1 rip game (Halo 3) for about 4 times back in June-August of '09 and was offline during the month of September and finally went back online 11/6 he was then banned.

We both have the elite with 1.6 FW, although I played more on mine. Since he uses his more for watching movies and Netflix and never had time to play rip games, we all know now that M$ knows about this FW for awhile.

The xbox is basically a computer, it has chip, motherboard, etc... so they can easily run checks and store our information into their database to see what we have on our systems. The firmware we flash our system with is a software, so they can create a software program to see what FW we have if they want to. Let's not fool ourselves thinking they are not smart enough to check this... of course with some people it can also be the games... maybe it's both.

 

Mik3h, so according to this, with my unbanned console, i can jump back and forth with the same HDD, and update my live gamerscore, with no reprecussion

by using an unmodded xbox?

the reason im asking is because I have an elite unbanned as of yet, stopped logging into XBL, hoping that they ban at random with random server checks, so i have not been flagged yet.

Can i borrow my friends untouched elite, and buy Modern WF2 and play on his box with my HDD (not yet banned), but there are saves on there from backups that come from my modded elite.

Or should i just use his HDD and recover my gamertag on it.

My main concern is not to put his box in any jeopardy, since his is brand new and he is just doing a friend a favor to play a new game.

Any response would be great.
