If your Xbox has been flogged, that's it. You'll get banned. You don't need to be offline for them to do it. Once they've hit the button, your attempt to log into Live will fail. Hopefully your console hasn't been flagged, but one way to see, is to phone up Microsoft "enquiring" as to whether or not your console is still in warranty and eligible for repair. They will ask for the serial number, pass it to them, and if it's flagged to be banned, they will say so. If not, the conversation ends there.

A funny thing about gamesaves on banned console. I was banned 3 days ago. Changed the mb and reverted back to an unbanned, unmodded console. The rest of the console was the same including the hdd. When I changed the mb I asked the guy to format the hdd just in case. Anyway M$ had already tampered with the HDD and could not be read. All my son's gamesaves were deleted along with everything else. My son almost cried when he learnt about his deleted gamesaves.

Then my son got an original GOW2 (his favorite game) yesterday. When he went on XBL to play it he found that his gamesaves were still there. Anybody experienced this? Needless to say he was ecstatic.

He'll be getting Halo ODST tomorrow and I'm curious to see if his old gamesave can be retrieved from XBL like his GOW2.

You are one of the lucky ones and you can use it to your advantage. Either call MS service rep and request for repair and ask if the warranty is intact and they will either tell u that ur console is under warranty (thus not being detected for ban) or void (being on ban list). So what you can do is buy an arcade and keep it for online MP games and use the unbanned (flashed) for offline games and can still swap the drive since the profile should work unless the console is banned.

That's what happens when you recover your profile via Xbox Live. The only thing is, you can't take the HD to a different console, else the saves will become corrupt and you will have to recover from XBL again.

the harddrive profiles are recovable if you delete the profile but keep the items, which is what your "guy" must have done, which is why when your son recovered he found he still had all his gamesaves

True but not entirely. You cannot put your HD back on a banned 360 as the profile not the saves will be corrupt. However if you put your HD with your profile on an unbanned 360, it will not corrupt but allow you to sign in as well as update any achievements you may get while connected to that other 360. I know as I have done it since my old one was banned in this wave on Nov 6. I take my HD with me to my friends house all the time and it works fine.

Yeah see what happened is this. (I speak from experience) When the his original 360 was banned, it corrupted his profile. Once the profile is corrupted, it cannot be seen once you put the HDD on an unbanned 360. The only way to see the corrupted profile is to go into system settings, memory, profiles. The profile will show up with the gamer pic and say corrupted. When this happened to me I called M$ right away as I wanted my profile. I learned my profile was not banned and they told me what to do. M$ also advised that as long as your profile is not banned, you will never lose anything even if your console is banned. So you have to delete the profile. When you click delete it gives an option to delete profile only, or delete profile and all items. Choose profile only. Once the profile is deleted, recover it. It will allow you to recover and will take about 5 to 15 minutes.

There your profile is back with everything it had on it including game saves. A lot of people is saying that if you are banned that you lose your profile, game saves, life and anything else that is attached. This is 100% FALSE!!

M$ chooses to ban your profile but did not for those who were banned. Only if your profile is banned will you lose everything forever.

I was banned November 6th, was back with a new 360 12hours later, recovered my profile and all is fine with the world.

I was banned on evening of the 10th, i'm from UK. My 360 was flashed day before release of FIFA10, got a copy of that on release date, this was the only copied game i played online. Now since around the last week of october i was offline playing some copied games, Batman AA and then also MW2 on weekend of 7/8th Nov, as soon as i tried to sign in on 10th boom i was banned. Must have been flagged from the FIFA game i was playing online i guess.
Anyway i'm going to be buying a new one this week. Interesting reading the last couple of comments regarding savegames as this was what i wanted to know so thanks. I'm pretty sure the achievements i achieved while i was offline would be lost, no way to recover them right? As on the new console i will have to recover my GT, luckily only was a few nights work so not a problem but does anyone know if you can use the banned console to play single player games, get achievements etc and then use a memory stick to transfer to the unbanned console?

no, once you place your profile into a banned 360 it becomes corrupted and must be recovered from xbox live servers in order to play on xbox live, so no you can't use your banned console to get achievments from your games and still be able to play with those achievments on an unbanned 360

Thank you all for your input on my gamesave question. Just want to clarify that the hdd was indeed formatted. I watched the guy do it. So there was virtually nothing on it after the format. I think my son actually got back his GOW2 gamesave from XBL and not from the hdd.

No mate im in London and im banned playing all the games i had in single player mode.....:)

All i can say is what am excellent wave from microsoft. Come on we have to admit pirates have alsways won, this time they won. O ye and all you kids just face the music. I have and so have many others. You pirated your games and microsoft caught us!

Like i said to my friend. If they can create multiplayer worlds with amazing graphics with all that technology. How easy is it for them to read the hardware of your xbox?

Anyway roll on the new firmware!

Yeah i was just checking about the achievements as i saw this what some guy wrote:

"If you want to maintain your gamerscore after your xbox being banned this is what you should do.
    1. your hard drive will never recover your GT so might as well sell it.
    2. Buy a few 250 MB card slots.
    3. Buy a new 360.
    4. Keep your modded 360.
    5. on your new 360 recover your GT on the 250 MB
    6. put the slot card into the modded xbox (OFFLINE)
    7. get all the burned games Acheivements
    8. put your slot on your new xbox. (online)
    9. after connected then remove the slot card."

Thought it was too good to be true :)

Stopped right there, as someone who is going to give people advice should really make sure the first step isn't completely false.

Yeah Petries is right. Flipmode1 if you attempt to play burned games on a banned system them move that hdd/mem unit to a non banned system it will give you a corrupt warning.

Yeah thanks for the responses guys.
I'm in two minds whether to keep the banned one to play single player games and new console for online. Obviously going to have same profile with different info though. Or i will sell the banned one and just get a new one and start from where i left off when last online.

Maybe there's nobody left to ban. It was on before that the ban would continue until the 13th. Have to wait and see.

I think that they'll keep on going until they can't ban no more. Surely most of their systems must be automated. MS have scored a equaliser modders 1 - 1 M$.

I'm enjoying all this news. It's like a story unfolding.

Sorry to go a bit off topic here but it kinda relates to banning, got a 360 tday of ebay its has the pre NXE dashboard and is modded with 1.6 firmware - i think - anyway i asked the seller if it was banned once i discovered it was modded but still no reply, i cant register the console with microsoft as it is already registered and according to the status when i test live connection it isnt banned, is there any of knowing other then plugging in an ethernet cable? any help would be appreciated.
