MS Ban Hammer - 10.30.09

ok here is my story of the the ban my probs after and a few questions
I have 2 consoles both connected to the internet and share 1 hard drive 1 modded 1 unmoded
the modded 1 was modded in january with 1.5 its a benq was updated to 1.6 about 3 months ago I never play early with the games and all are checked with abgx was not hit when the ban wave came around straight away i played ghostbusters and forza for a couple of days and still no ban. I wemt out and brought a proper version of modernwarfare 2 as yhought i may need it if i got banned.
anyways only played that for 2 days then while i was playing it i was disconected from live when trying to sign in told me it was banned.
So my first point is this indicates microsoft can check the firmware and not the discs or is it just the fact it knows if the drive has been disconected
So i thought put the hd on the unmodded console and away I go but no corupt gamertag no worries i will recover but it would not let me any body no why ?
I managed to recover to another hd and i then moved that from the hd to the modded consoles on board memory i then had to recover it again when placing on the unmodded console
so i now have a online gamertag and offline gamertag is this best way to do it or can i still share the hd so i can upload my achevments ?

I'm actually lucky, where I live I have about 5 Wal-Mart stores within a 45 mile radius. I purchased 2 Arcade version last week and got a total of $200 in gift cards, purchase 2 more Arcades last night and got another $200 in gift cards. Then I went back to Wal-Mart and got myself a new Samsung 40" LCD TV and used the $400 worth of gift cards.

Thank you M$, you helped me get a new TV and save $400... your plan worked and it worked even better for me.

Now I have 1 mod xbox that is ban, 1 mod xbox that I haven't check online yet because I bet it will get ban and want keep the HD functionality. 4 new xbox that will be modded 1 at at a time with this new firmware release so if it gets ban, I will have a spare to mod again.

Why would you need 6 XBox consoles? It looks like you are not after the financial incentive of a modded box.

 

Not to mention those arcades probably have the newer undumpable Lite-On Drive

okay, does anyone know if we can have an unmodded/unbanned stock xbox for live play/legit games, and use a modded/unbanned xbox for our backups/not playing on live? And switch hdd's between the two without getting banned?

Also, some people claim that even after their xbox is banned, they can still use their hdd/gamesaves on a non banned xbox(and switch back and forth, like play offline on banned xbox and then switch hdd to unmodded/unbanned xbox)...how many people have actually been doing this? Or will the game saves be corrupt for sure?

after my first report of banning...

got 2 virgin xboxs

1) 2007 falcon - benq 1.61 running nothing but backups - took 6 days to be banned from purchase date banned on 11.12.09 purchased 11.6.9. no hard drive and only a memory unit with gamer tag on it

2) 2009 jasper with liteon v2 running 1.6 running nothing but originals . still going strong on live. no hard drive and only a MU with live profile on it. played MW2 and COD 4 and COD 5 originals.

Take what you want from this but I am now 2 banned in and 1 left . I will post further results if ban is coming on 1.6 console.

Ive jus been banned now while i was playin a legit copy of mw2, so i dont think the ban wave is over yet

The wave is still going, and strong. My son's console was banned last night but mine stayed on so I thought I was good.

I just tried logging on about 30 minutes ago (4:30CST) and my console is banned.

It's all good though because all my son and I ever do on XBL is play Call of Duty and we have retail copies of all COD games - so we will be back online later this evening after I buy/repair some consoles.

It's aaaallllll good.

No I'm not and I'm not going to make excuses for the reason I mod, I mod my xbox systems because I want to. The banned consoles are just for mod games for now, the unmod consoles are to go online in different rooms to watch Netflix movies and for multiplayer on different TVs so I don't have to do a splitscreen. Also because of the great sale that WM had, it was so cheap how can you pass it up.

To answer the other question, no I didn't do the swappoo, my friend already did that and now he's back online and ya we know the repercussions but same goes for modding it so it's not much of difference there because it's still wrong.

 

I guess M$ is still banning. Came home from work and played MW2, and after dinner went on to play it some more online and I got hit. Have a Sammy ms28 spoofed as a lite-on. (spoofed before lite-on was hackable and lost the drive) had since 1.4 and upgraded progressively to 1.61. never played anything early, have a mixture of originals and backups. always used my connectivity kit. I have a second unmodded box that i will mod when the new LT firmware hits. Was a good run on this box, I'm ready for round two.

 

M$ cannot ban an unmodded box. As long as you have never opened the box or ever changed the FW you can get M$ to unban you. But then that would be troublesome as you might have to send your box to M$. Anyway I don't think you will be banned for using the hdd from the banned console on the unmodded console. After all the hdd is a genuine Xbox accessory. To be safe you could save all your gametag and gamesave info on a USB stick (or something) and then format the banned hdd.

 

I knew u were filthy rich. 1 console for each room...WOW!

Btw, I'm not judging you in any way. I was a "pirate" myself until a week ago. I like the fun of downloading and trying every new game that appears on my favorite torrent site. Most of the time I only play these games once and then they disappear in the stack of backups, forgotten forever.

 

no i'm not rich, but I do have a bad habit of buying new gadgets/electronics and I'm so in love with Netflix I just want to be able to watch on the other TVs too. Plus now my wife and I have 2 separate xbox on 2 separate TVs side by side so we can play multiplayer with MW2 since there is no option to have a splitscreen on multiplayer. Now we don't have to share a screen anymore for our other games too.

I did the same thing too, I would backup my games and just leave it laying around and never get a chance to play it. For my psp I must have like 60 plus torrent games but I haven't picked that thing up for long time. Now I only play 3 games all on the xbox.

I think the thrill for some people (at least for me) is to know you got the game to work after modding something. I know for the psp I was more into modding that as well doing it for other people, then to actually play it. It's more like a challenge to see if you can actually get it to work and that was more fun for me than anything else. That's why I don't mind too much for my console being banned on XBL and I'm not upset about it, because I have backup consoles to use for that, just like everyone else does. I think it's the safer route to take to have a mod console for games by yourself or with your friends at home and regular console to use XBL.
