MS Ban Hammer - 10.30.09

Got banned yesterday the 13th, how apropro. Anyway, gotta take it like a man, we did what we did, and now gotta bite the bullet. It was my grandson's 360, and I was the one who suggested flashing, not his fault, so i'm obliged to buy him a new one. Now, question,
and if its been answered before, than think of this as a refresher, cuz i've been researching all morning:
The acct is still good ( I checked on xbox.com this morning). So take the new 360(which WILL NOT be modded) and get him a used copy of COD 4 and 5 (that is all he plays online) and use the modded one just to play. To recover his gamertag, just use the new one to connect, and recover his gamertag with the new one, and leave the HDD in the used one alone?

 

Mate no flaming but WHATEVER precautions you take your likely to get banned its proven that no precautions work. Nothing!

 

You can use the hard drive from the old console if you just want to buy him a new Arcade. Delete the gamertag from the hard drive because it will show up as corrupted when you connect it to the new console, but choose not to delete your achievements and saves, then just recover the gamertag once the hard drive is connected to the new machine.

 

I had 2 consoles, both using the same backups from the same source iso checked for stealth - both have been banned, 5 days apart. The only games EVER played were COD4MW and CODWAW. Both consoles were recently purchased and recently mod with 1.6 by 2 different ppl.

Question to those with more experience here... if I buy and Arcade can I put the Hard Drive from my banned unti on it can carry on? My tag's are not banned, the notice only says the console hase been banned.

My kids are pissed - help a brother out!

 

Ok, simple enough. So, now an arcade machine with the old HDD, and the banned console without any HDD. Will that banned one be able to play backups, without the HDD?

 

NEver mind, dumb question, without the HDD,it's almost impossible to play, no saves.

New Arcades have 512 MB of flash memory actually, so you can play without a hard drive and still save your games.

 

I have just read on multiple web pages that Microsoft perform an Annual Banning in November...

Anyone got any more information on this or is it just rumour?

 

They have done console ban waves once per year around October/November time for the last 3 years, but going forward we have no way of knowing if they'll continue to do that. They've definitely improved their detection methods, so they may do ban waves more often. There's no way to know.

 

I was just banned last night. I am fine with it cause PS3 was the first system I bought, and I only bought a used 360 off of ebay for the purpose of modding it. Just kinda pissed that I bought a year worth of Live 2 months ago, but oh well.
I am not going to buy another 360 just so Microsoft could have a chance on trying to match the PS3 sales this season.

 

I'm trying to convice my grandson to go to ps3 (freeeeeee online), but he says no voice chat with his buddies, they all play primarily cod4 or cod 5

 

Got banned today the 14th when trying to play FIFA 10 online. Never played a game before release date. Running Ixtreme 1.51 with one of the earlier Liteon drives. Got Modern Warfare 2 for the PS3 on release date so i was expecting to be banned at some stage. Not a big online gamer so will still use the Xbox for new games that i won't be playing online. Was great while it lasted.

 

I just joined the ban wave party....Im guessing it's because I played MW2 a week early and when I ran the burnt disc through AGBX everything checked green, except at the very end in yellow it said something like "video packet size too small" or something to that effect, again in yellow txt. There was no red txt, but this means it was a bad rip right?

I really am ok with being banned, the only thing I hate is now having to be stuck with stock rosters for sports games. Because there is absolutely no way to update Madden and NBA 2K rosters with a banned console right? Don't mean to hijack the thread...

Got banned last night, Ben-q from M$ after I got the E74, the other I'm guessing a lite-on (Elite I bought for the rebate). I did buy the extended warranty, thinking about bricking it to get an unmodded and keeping the other one modded. Both 1.6, weird thing is I didn't play anything on the Elite other than CODMW and WAW and that was at least 2-3 weeks ago. I seriously think M$ got pressured by Activision to do this- both profit-new consoles, game sales. Can't say I would blame Activision, they want the most buck from their bang. Should I recover gamertag to new xbox? I might just get a new gamertag and live sub.

 

2 months ago? Try 2 days ago! Lol, mine annual live subscription JUST renewed, now im 50 bucks in the hole and stuck with a banned 360, Lol. I'm really on the fence now...do I get an arcade so I can use the online functionality, or do I just pony up the extra cash and get a PS3 with free online and ability to play games I haven't been able to play before?

Yeah, the only thing I dislike about the PS3 and what I do like about the 360, the 360 uses a cheap headset for communication. The fact that its powered from the controller is awesome too. Far less people talk on the PS3 since you need to use a bluetooth headset, and recharge them so frequently. I will still use my 360 for single player games though, but sadly, it looks like I wont be able to play Left4Dead 2 online
