Are you referring to this quote:

That last part sounds like being able to unban gamers but I don't see it happening with just the new firmware.

I believe the above is a reference to the actual unban method posted below it that involves changing the console ID via JTAG.

If you look at the information just before the shown workaround though that wouldn't be the case. It states "another workaround" after posting the unban information from the 2nd paragraph. You could be right though. It's not clear!

Can anyone point me in the direction of a tutorial on how to flash a Toshiba-Samsung MS28 drive back to the original firmware?

In that case, I think it was just some wanna-be techno journalist writing about a subject that he does not truly understand and making a mistaken statement in the mean time.

I suppose anything is possible, but as you say, I don't see how that would be possible with a firmware update.

I agree! It's not been a feature in iXtreme firmware in the past. Unless c4eva has found how MS does their bans then there's no way. I don't believe the new FW will be able to unban consoles.

okay, does anyone know if we can have an unmodded/unbanned stock xbox for live play/legit games, and use a modded/unbanned xbox for our backups/not playing on live? And switch hdd's between the two without getting banned?

Like play a backup of batman AA on my unbanned but modded xbox(not connected to xbl), save my game on my gamertag, and then disconnect my hdd and put it on non-modded/non-banned xbox(that IS connected to xbl) and play a original purchased game. Will m$ see that the other game saves on the hdd are from burned games?

The reason I think i will be okay, is because if you have a banned/modded xbox and you take the hdd off and put it on a non banned xbox, the new xbox doesnt get banned just because there are gamesaves from the old banned xbox...i know all this is confusing to type out etc, but i just dont want my nonbanned/nonmodded xbox to get banned cause ive been playing burned games on a different xbox.

call microsoft to confirm...your console may have been flagged, so as soon as you log into live you'll get ban hammered.

just call them up to see if you eligible for repair. The rep will tell you if you are on the ban list or not.

Yeah, but it doesn't matter if it's later or now because once you're flagged then you're gonna be banned upon the next connection to Live. The new firmware when available will not save you either on that console.

I think the people that's scared to check might as well bite the bullet. If you have a modded console & used it in the past few weeks/months then you're pretty much done. If you have a modded console & not done anything then wait til c4eva releases his new firmware. This way you're not taking any chances on getting banned & will be ready for Live once the FW is available to us.

I hear alot of people say this but I have not seen anything to prove that this is fact.

The only thing we absolutely know for sure is that if you play on Live right now there is a 100% chance you will get banned. So if you have a system that has not been banned, why would you take it on Live just to play for 3 hours or so and then get banned? Yes it is true that, for example, my modded console has been flagged and will get banned at some point even if I don't login to Live, but if I DO get on Live right now I have 100% chance of getting banned.

If your console has not been banned, stay off Live, that simple.

    Am I missing something?

Hopefully M$ does not change tactic and ban all year round. If push comes to shove any new firmware will last at most a few weeks. What's so difficult for M$ to download the new FW (when available) and crack it in days? Just hope this ban wave is a yearly event like before.

Isn't that what I just basically said? STAY AWAY FROM LIVE RIGHT NOW! What I was implying though was if you've been on Live in the past weeks/months then you're already flagged for a ban. Staying away from Live this way then you're just avoiding the inevitable really.

Personally, getting banned isnt the end of the world for me right now.

However if I do get banned, I can easily save enough. I just finished high school and about to start my TAFE diploma, so once I get that I can get a job and start saving for a legit xbox. Plus I dont really spend my money on anything else

So getting banned for me is not a huge deal. So I guess I dont have to go crazy too much.

(Sorry bout that speech, I have assurance issues, teehee)
