Hi, i bought my 360 pre modded downloaded the Live update and got the Err 66 code. Took it back to the guy who did it and he said i have an MS28 drive and that he cant get it to play backups again. I think he said he can get it back to original FW. What are my options? He said for £50 he will keep my bust one and give me a new one with modified FW to play back ups. That doesn't sound bad but i really want to play live so if this happens again to me i will have to keep shelling out for reflashing. What xbox drive version and FW version do i need from this guy to enable me to play backups and play Live without immediate problems. Another thing i thought about was getting the new flashed version from this guy and getting the kit to reflash it myself if i get problems in the future, but dont i need the original firmware that is unique to the box to enable this? Is there anyway round it? Sorry for the long message but i've spent £500+ on the 360, network adapter, live subscription, and games so am tearing my hair out.
You just need to update to the 4.2 firmware. your firmware is old and reporting that your drive is a ms25 firmware drive and the new 4.2 will be like your original firmware. This is all you need to do. sounds like that guy is wanting to make an easy 50 off ya.
well he was going to charge £45 for flashing but is offering £50 for new console intead. So im only paying an extra £5. He seemed a genuine guy. So that is all he needs to do flash it wit 4.2? I'm sure its more involved than that because he has 4.2 and would have tried it i would think.

To make a long story short. If your drive was originally a: ms25 - then any firmware shoud be just fine ms28 - then only 4.0 and up will work All that needs to be done is a reflash and the 360 will play just fine.
