I was wondering if anyone know how to help me with this annoyance... I have moved from Internet Explorer to Firefox for a number of reasons. I basically want to completely stop using Internet Explorer. However, the 'check mail' button on MSN Messenger (the bit that has a number in brackets telling you how many new email you have) opens Internet Explorer. I was wondering if anyone knew a workaround to make it open in Firefox. I've tried editing the "Internet Shortcut" file association and any other that has Internet Explorer associated to it, but to no avail. I have a feeling a reg-hack might be required but I don't know where to start looking for the relevant key. Hope someone can help - to state the obvious, I've already googled for the answer - the only thing which came close was on ExpertsExchange (Solution Title: Replacing IE with FireFox) where someone asked the question, but i'll be damned if I'm paying for the privilege of an answer before finding out if anyone will tell me for free! Relevant Info: MSN v7.5 Firefox v1.5.0.1 Win XP Pro SP2 Installed
Unless you start using messenger plus, together with the Stuffplug plugin, you can't make it open in Firefox. Here's where you can get those pieces of free software : http://www.msgplus.net/ http://www.stuffplug.com/
