Msn messenger connection problem

    I cant seem to connect to msn...

    it says 'sorry, we were unable to sign you in to the msn messenger at this time. Please try again later. 80072efd'

    I have tried msn help, but it still doesnt work..

    Check your connectivity to the net... I think that message really means to try again later.

    I seem to be able to get onto windows messenger so my net connection should be okay but this mesage appears all the time, even when I try again later...

    are you using the latest version of messenger (7.0)?

    If not uninstall old version, download 7.0, install and try it out.

    If you are already using 7.0 make sure your firewall is granting msn mesenger access to the internet.

    I have tried what u said but it still isnt working...

    Open messenger, Go to Tools>Options>Connections. Click test connections. If the test connec button is not available go into advanced settings and test the four settings in there. My guess is that your firewall has the ports messenger needs blocked.

    also check whether you are set to work offline,
    file,untick it
    i had a few problems like this,it was a real pain in the ass,
    try installing different versions

    if you have a router make sure it allows the necessary ports. also some older models of speedstream need to have a firmware upgrade and it should take care of the problem
